Funds To Aid NW Ore Hunt SPOKANE M" The Defense Minerals Exploration Administra tion said Tuesday it has signed contracts this summer for expendi ture of nearly 600,000 in hunts for new ore bodies in the Northwest. The government's share of the costs will amount to about $468, 000. the Spokane DMEA office re ported. Some $318,000 worth of ex ploration Is provided under new DMEA contracts, the rest under amended agreements made earlier. To stimulate the search for ore. the government puts up a share of the cost which Is repaid out oi profits by the mines if anything is found. Larcest Northwest agreement Is with Sunset Mines of Kellogg, Ida ho, for $101,126. The DMEA will match cimpany expenditures up to half the total cost in the searcn for new lead and zinc deposits Other contracts, with DMEA'a share of costs followed by opera' tor's share, included: Dan C. Peacock and Dn O, Peacock Jr., Orlnda, Calif.. Cres cent manganese mint, Clallam County, Wash., $28,360 and $7,760. Bonanza Oil and Mine Corp., Sutheiiin, Ore., phase 2 of mercury exploration in Douglas County, Ore. $43,600 and $14,500. Ford Grant To Aid Oregon Libraries GEAFHART, Ore.
