Guy Lombardo Show Slated Guy Lombardo, known far and wide as the purveyor of "the sweetest music this side of hea ven" makes his initial appearance in Klamath Falls September 24 at the fairgrounds. The famous maestro has had a Horatio Alger-like career. He and his Royal Canadians hold and al most legendary place in the annals of American music. A native of London, Ontario. Lombardo was launched on his career with a four-piece band while in grammar school. The orchestra, which included himself as violinist, Carmen Lombardo as flutist, Le- ben Lombardo as drummer, and Fred Kreltnor as pianist, are all still with the band. At first, the Lombardo group played at church socials and other community gatherings. Then an American booking agent got wind of Ihe outfit. He signed Lombardo and his boys for an Elks conven ion in Cleveland, Ohio. Rv 1929, Lombardo had won naional recognition. The band wnct to the Roosevelt Hotel In New York and they have played the famous hostelry each fall and winter since. Guy Lombardo is credited with introducing at least half of the country'3 Eong hits each year. Baldy Evans, who booked the Lombardo band for Klamath Falls, is innking elaborate preparations for the dance in the fairgrounds exnibil builoing. A new bandstand end a special lighting system will be installed. Evans said he is pre senting Lombardo at the lair grounds because of more floor and panting space.
