which dampened the enthusiasm
of Wall Street observers. Fast
trading when the market Is ad
vancing Is usually considered en
couraging. For the day, volume ran around
1,550,000 shares. Wednesday, also
a dull affair, saw trading totaling
1.580.000 shares, smallest since
. mid-June, 1934.

that wore started In Siskiyou Coun
ty by a thunder storm Sunday
night were reported under control

Larry Kirton, SLilo Division of
Forestry, lire dispatcher here, said
that mop up operations were being
carried on Tuesday on three Urea,
and Lee Morlord. U.S. Forest serv
ice fire dispatcher for the Klamath
National Forest, said that there
were no lires burning on land

One of the largest fires fought
Monday night was on Yreka moun
tain, southwest ot Yreka. The tire
started on slate land, but a Klam
ath National Forest crew from

a traffic olllcer of the California
Highway Patrol. It was located

be honored at a reception Sunday.
The tea and reception will be
held in the lecture room of the
Klamath County Library from 2 to
p m. The public is Invited.
Hatch is instructor for the weav
ing classes being taught this month,
starting Monday, August 15. Hall
is instructing classes in painting.
There will be an exhibit of venv
ing shown during the tea hours
which have been completed by
Hatch and local weavers.
Registrations are still open for
the classes. Interested persons
