Weed Lions Raise Funds WEED Proceeds of the Weed Lions turkey event last week, are earmurked for the community bet terment projects of the local club. The latest of which will be the purchase of a portable hospital bed lor the use of Weed residents. Les Kyle, chairman of the 1954 event, praised the local merchants for their cooperation in donating many viuuauie gilts. A gilt was awarded every two minutes dur ing the evening show which was attended by a large crowd. Over 130 prizes were awarded. Other major projects of the local Lions Club Include the club's as sistance In raising funds and pro moting night fights for the Weed High School football field; a pur chase of an Iron Lung and blood bank refrigerator; eye care for needy Weed children; parkas for the Weed High Cougars football team; sponsors of Boy Scout Troop 31 and Cub Pack 31; and' in 1962 through 1954 donating more than $200 to the March of Dimes pro gram. MONTREAL Ms-French alnger Charles Trenet was out of Jail under S25.000 bond today pending bearlnga on a 1141,000 breach contract suit brought against him by a New York theatrical com' pany. The suit was filed by Hello Paree Inc., producers of a revue scheduled to open next month on Broadway, when Trenet lallea appear for road showings. The singer was arrested Tuesday under a Superior Court writ issued prevent his' leaving the country. The singer spent almost 24 hours In jail before his manage Michel Leroy, was able to post the bail. Trenet has said he will file 1250,000 countersult against the company.
