Thanksgiving Service Slated A special Thanksgiving service, open to the general public, is an nounced by First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiv ing Day. The service will be held in the church edifice at Tenth and Washington. The latter portion of the service will be devoted to spontaneous ex pressions of gratitude by Chris tian Scientists for God's goodness as shown in spiritual growth, heal ings and other blessings. Selections on the subject of praise and thanksgiving to God will be read from the Bible and from the Christian Science text book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in a specially pre pared lesson-sermon entitled "Thanksgiving." The service is open to the gen eral public and local church members have invited everyone to attend. Lutheran Church Plans Services Thanksgiving services will be held at Klamath Lutheran Church this evening (Wednesday) at 8 o'clock. There will be no service Thanksgiving Day, according to an announcement from the pastor, the Rev. Kent Spaulding. This evening's service will cen ter around the theme, "Christ, the Heart of Thanksgiving," with the evening message based on I Tim othy 2:1-8. The Senior Choir will sing "Thanks Be to God." "Thanksgiving is meaningless unless we have an object, a person, to whom our thanks are given. It is our purpose to put Christ at the heart of our Thanksgiving," the pastor stated. Folders and stickers are being distributed to almost every home. Fire fighters have volunteered their time and energy in picking up these contributions. Directions specify that those wishing to con tribute display the enclosed stick er in their window; however, lo cal fire chiefs have asked that contributors call their local fire station and leave their address: then a member of the fire depart ment will call for the donation. Or, donations may be mailed to the fire department in your locality.. Funds collected will be used for research into the crippling disease which has stricken more than 130.000 children in the U.S. plus at least another 75.000 adults. According to station attendants entry was made by breaking a rear window to the lube room. A small amount of money was taken from the soft drink machine, four tires and eight or 10 new tubes, an $85 lady's diamond en gagement ring, a Schick electric razor and numerous wrenches and hand tools were taken, it was re ported.
