It's the kind of thing the motor ist would never buy for himself. Take a walk through a large housewares or auto accessories store. You'll see things like a Car Suae which holds two thermos Dottles and an insulated compart ment for food and- slraDs onto the car seat. There's also a Visorette a clip for the visor which holds spare spectacles, note pad, pencil, maps and other non-valuables to keep the glove compartment uncrcwded. In apparel there are Oluv-Mocs, soft leather allppers in their own carrying bag for comlort on long drives. There Is, too, a child's au aeat with steering wheel made by Ca&sandrc. And for the smoker there is a magnetized cigaret case that won't slip off the dashboard while he reaches for a smoke. And don't forget things like driving gloves, visored caps, key chains. But if you'd rather not shop around for an auto accessory, simply go back to the first plan and give a new car. Fashion director Bill Thomas, fresh from designing the wardrobe which Jane Russell wears In "Fox fire," admits that the trip to the women's counter is lined with dan gerous pitfalls. But here, says be, Is how to avoid them: 1. Make your choice a luxury Hem, but don't buy the laciest or silkiest lingerie in the store. Stick to something practical. Most wom en prefer an item they can wear and wear and wear, not a bit of fluff which soon will be filed and forgotten. 2. Be sure that you have the right size. Nothing takes the edge off a gift more than the need for exchanging it. Make a complete list of your wife or girl friend'. sizes dress, skirt, blouse, gloves, etc. and keep it with you. 3. If you're buying a hat, take her along. 4. If you're shopping around for a bag, match it to an outfit she already has. Otherwise, you may be stuck for a whole new ward robe to go with the bag. 5. Keep the Jewelry simple pre tentious stuff is taboo. 6. Before buying cosmetics, take a peek at her dressing table to as certain her favorites. Women are fanatically loyal to particular make-up brands. 7. Remember what looks good on the salesgirl may not look good on your wife. And no matter what you buy, throw in a borne how ever small of milady's perfume. This will help to atone for your other mistakes. FOR THE HUNTER - FISHERMAN LADIES ...
