' DELTA KAPPA , GAMMA NEWS Alpha chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma -met for the regular meet ing at the home of Isabelle Brlx ner on Lakeshore Drive, Saturday afternoon, November 6. Viola Dickson, Stella Bowne and Ruth Obenchain assisted Mrs. Mrs. Brlxner as hostesses. After the dessert luncheon President Beulah Eliott conducted the business meeting. 1 The need of a student loan fund, for students at the Oregon Tech nical . Institute was discussed and the chapter group voted to help on this worth project. Beulah Elliott and Isabelle Brlx ner reported on the August math ematlc meeting in Seattle. One of the highlights of the convention was the panel consisting, primari ly of Southern Oregon teachers, including Dora Brosius, Lakeview; Beulah Elliott and Eva Burkhal ter, Klamath Falls; Robert Oliver, Roseburg; and Stanley Kendall, Henley. Isabelle Brixner was mo derator of the panel. ' Alpha's member, Helen Hoff mann, has been highly honored by being invited to become a mem ber of the National League of American Pen Women. This or ganization started in 1897 by Mar ian Longfellow, a niece of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Mrs. Hoff man, Latin teacher at Klamath Union High School, was recently guest of honor of the Oregon branch of the organization in Eu gene, and at that time her name was suggested ior national mem bership. Mabel Humble reported on the progress of the Josephine Penrod Memorial for the new Klamath County Library. Alpha members have contributed to this fund which now is approximately 340. Merrill BPW MERRILL Merrill BPW mem bers met November 5, at the . home of Lillian Thomas, and made plans to award their annual schol arship to a graduating senior girl of Merrill High. It was announced that the club had won first place for the float they entered in the service ; clubs division of the an nual Potato Festival parade. Refreshments were served by the hostess to Harriet Fothertngham, Eva Bowman, Helen Brumley, Viv ian Trotman, Audrey Lewis, Kath leen Brlckner, Myrtle Beasly and Oroville Eifert. Lions Club Auxiliary Plans November 20th Food Sale Garden Club Xm.as Workshop MALIN Malin Garden Club members enjoyed, a Christmas workshop during their October meeting held at the Loyal Loveness home Wednesday afternoon, Octob er 27. Mrs. Robert Holl, club president, conducted a short business meet ing, after which members gathered in the recreation room to construct evergreen wreaths. -. r. At . noon, members and visitors ate sack lunches. Coffee and cake were served by Mrs. Loveness and Mrs. Cecil Jackson. Mrs. J. P., Elmore of Klamath Falls started the afternoon session with a demonstration of candle making, followed by the making of Christmas decorations of .various kinds for the home or tree. Many handmade Christmas cards were shown as samples. Special guest for the day was Mrs. Elmore's houseguest Mrs. Aandahl, wife of the assistant sec retary of the interior, whose home is in Washington, D.C. and in North Dakota. Present were Mrs. Merle .Loos- ley, Mrs. Edwin Stastny, Mrs Wayne Fisk, Mrs. Gene Evans, Mrs,' Ben . Johnson, Mrs. Robert Holl, Mrs. Cecil Jackson, Mrs. Dick Henzel, Mrs. Jerry Rajnus, Mrs. Teresa McComb, Mrs. Perry Haley, Mrs. Marlon Monfore, Mrs Frank Paygr, Mrs. Karl Kujac, Mrs. Ben Daniel, Mrs. Carl Raj nus and Mrs. Charles Thurman, Klamath- Falls,-district president. gave a composite book review of inotable Oregon women with re spect to the past and their in fluence to Oregon history. In the absence of Mrs. J. A. Schubert, president, Mrs. Morgan Johnson, vice president conducted the business meeting during which three eye conservation cases were approved. Saturday. November 20 has been the date set by Mrs. Vern Moore, eye conservation chairman, for cooked food sale to be held at J. C. Penney Co. Proceeds from the sale will further the eye con servation program in this area. Lions will be guests of the La dies Auxiliary for an informal dance to be held, Friday, December 10 at the Reames Golf . and . Country Club. Members ai'e - invited to bring guests. .-. ., Mrs. Loy J. Barker, who witB her husband attended the Interna tional Convention of Lions in New York City, addressed the group with an informative review of the highlights of the convention. With the final reading and ap proval of the revised articles of the consitutlon by Mrs. Olive Thomas, the meeting was conclud ed. I . Reames Auxiliary Fall Luncheon Election and Golf Trophy Awards Mrs. Frank Hall was chairman of the annual fall luncheon of the Women's Auxiliary of Reames Oolf and Country Club Friday, No vember 5, 1 p.m. preceded by a cocktail hour. The tables were ar ranged to represent golf fairway. and decorated with miniature fig ures, greens and flags. Mrs. Jim Ivory, decorations chairman, was assisted by Mrs. Stanley Miller and Mrs. J. Tru man Runyan. Board members elected for the coming year were Mrs. George Clark, president; Mrs. W. Ray Lamb,- Mrs. F. W. Peak and Mrs. o. K. Puckett.
