By Automobile
A tiny "Trick or Treater," 3-year-old
Ricky Lee Bartlett, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bartlett, 3638
Diamond Street, In Stewart-Lennox
addition, escaped with 'only facial
cuts and bruises when he was
knocked to the pavement In front
of Griggs Grocery, on the Ashland
Highway Saturday evening, shortly
before 8 p.m.

haeuser, operator of the car told
Oregon State Police the little boy
ran directly in front of his car.
His statement was verified by two
brothers of Rickys who had pre
ceded the three-year-old across the
highway.
The Injured lad was taken to the
Klamath Valley Hospital by Kaler's
Ambulance Service where he was
given medical attention and re
leased. The three brothers were trick or
treating In the neighborhood and
started across the highway. When
the older brothers reached the
other side they looked back and
discovered little Ricky Just start
ing across as the Baker car ap
proached. '
The older brothers told officers
they shouted to the lad to go back
but he apparently misunderstood
and ran directly Into the path of
the car. Baker was absolved of
blame in the accident.

"O. S. Air Force plane near this
mountain hamlet on the French
Italian border.

Meeting Planned
A Better Schools Conference Is
scheduled for November 6 from
to 4:30 p.m. at the Lincoln School
at Mcdlord. .
This Is a regional conference,
sponsored by the department of
classroom teachers of the Oregon
Education Association, and will in
clude delegates from Jackson, Jo
sephine, Lake, Klamath and Doug
las counties. .
Purpose of the conference Is to
foster a better understanding of
public education as It affects
teachers, administrators, a 0 h o 0 1
board members and lay people.
A full program is designed
around the theme. "Are We In
terpretlng Public Education?"

Horace (Red) Hurd were called
to Klamath Falls by the illness of
Mrs. Hurd's father, Murray Dick

be featured on Channel 12, TV at
6:45 p.m. Thursday, November 4
on the regular program by W. H.
Hutchinson, Chico. Slides furnished
by the Siskiyou County Historical
Society will be shown. The slides

many of them being adapted from
the illustrations of his book, "Sad
