festive air. Betty Crocker of
Genernl Mills suggests Chocolate
Goblins, Jack-O-Lanterns, and
chewy Peanut Mallows as delicious
treats for this night.
Jack-O-Lanteriu
1 cup sugar
1-3 cup water
1-3 cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
?4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-oz. package Cheerios .
Mix sugar, water, corn syrup,
salt, butter in saucepan. Cook to
250 degrees or until a few drops
form a. hard ball wnen dropped
Inlo cold water. Take from heat.
Stir In vanilla. Pour hot syrup In
thin stream over Cheeiios In large
bowl, stirring constantly to mix
well. Grease hands and form ce
real mixture Into shape of pump
kins. If balls pull apart, reshape
occasionally until they harden. Use
Kumdrons for eyes and nose and
corn candy for teeth. Makes 15
pumpkins.
Chocolate Goblins
6-oz package pieces or 8
milk chocolate
'i cud confectioners' sugar
1-3 cup toasted almonds
chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups Wheaties
Melt chocolate over hot water,
Btir in rest of ingredients. Form
Into balls and place on baking
sheet. Chill at least lhour In re
frigerator or until balls hold their
shape. Makes about 34.
Peanut Mallows
14 cup butter
' j cup peanut butter
y2 b marshmallowa (about 32)
6 cups Sugar Jets
Melt butter, peanut butter,
marshmallows over hot water,
stirring constantly. Fold mixture
into Sugar Jets in large bowl, stir
ring gently until Sugar Jets arc
evenly coated. Turn into greased
square pan, 9x9xl--inches. Pat
cut evenly In pan. Cut . Into 32
bars.

2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
Cut ham Into cubes and brown
In frying pan. Remove ham and
set aside. Cook green pepper and
onion In butter until tender, about
5 minutes. Add flour and blend.
Stir in milk gradually, and cook
over low heat until thickened, stir
ling constantly. Add salt, pepper,
cayenne, mustard and grated
cheese, stir until cheese is melted.
Add ham and heat, serve on toast
or hot biscuits.
