KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON PAGE THIRTEEN NY Democratic Fight Looms NEW YORK Wl Pour of New York State's leading Democrats have formally endorsed Averell Harriman for the party's nomina tion for governor. All may not be clear sailing for the millionaire New Deal Fair Deal stalwart, however, because some powerful backers of Rep. Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. threat en a floor fight at the Democratic State Convention. But the leaders' endorsement probably has assured Harriman of a majority of the delegates. A statement backing Harriman was issued late yesterday by Dem ocratic State Chairman Richard H. Balch and Democratic National Committeeman Carmine G. De Sario, who also Is leader of Tam many Hall, the Manhattan party organization. The statement bore the Inscrip tion that it was "concurred in" by Sen. Herbert H. Lehman, who is vacationing in Idaho, and New York Mayor Robert F. Wagner, who has rejected bids he seek the gubernatorial nomination. The statement was Issued at Democratic State Headquarters after several top party leaders had failed in private efforts to persuade Roosevelt, the only other active contender, to bow out in favor of Harriman. Several upstate Democratic lead, ers declared their continued sup port of Roosevelt for the nom-ination. Hildebrand Leslie Collins - who has been spending her vacation with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Orise. left Saturday for her home in Trijunga, California. Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Hartzler left Wednesday for a week's vacation on the coast. They plan a visit with Hartzler's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Ogg, Portland, before returning home. Mrs. Erwin Schanz and daugh ter, Mrs. Frank Grohs, were trans acting business in Klamath Falls Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Bisbey visit ed in Klamath Falls Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Barney Sin clair. Mrs. Charles Boroughs. Melda and Mrs. Marvin Michael visited Thursday with their niece Mrs. Mike Carroll of Keno. Mrs. Doris Ryser, who has been a patient in a Klamath Falls hos pital for several days with a throat infection, has returned to her home much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schanz ac companied by Mrs. Emma Rueck drove to Tulelake Sunday. Mrs. . Sarah Michael spent the weekend in Klamath Falls with Mr. and Mrs. D. Hoefler and Wan da. . Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rucck re turned from Vale Monday. Mrs. Lena Flackus and daugh ter, Mrs. Elaine Meyers and fam ily, Ashland, ' spent the weekend with Mrs. Flackus" brother Albert Burgdorf and- Eldon and her sis ter, Mrs. Martha McCimbcr.
