M. Douglass and OTI Director W. D. Purvine went to Salem to meet Thursday mornine with the State Board of Education on budgets for the 1955-57 biennium and the 1954 65 fiscal year. . Following that meeting they will confer with the slate purcnasing department and the director of the department of finance, Harry S. Dorman, to obtain Information and approval of necessary moves to meet the influx of students. "We are better prepared to meet this group of students than we have ever before been," Purvine stated. "This is lamely because we have had some warning and a good system of handling such matters has been set up under Dorman's supervision In Salem." . He 'indicated that this year's students will see considerable new equipment installed. New equip ment is arrivinc daily so that total facilities will be in excellent shape to offer full Instructional advan tages right from the beginning of the year,-he said. . , Purvine also announced ' that Fade Sheet Metal was successful bidder on a new exhaust system for the school. The purchase order has arrived from Salem to Install a system of pipes and sections In Ihe diesel engine department for the purpose of exhausting the fumes from running motors set up by students taking the course.' All vents will lead outside so that the air In the shop will remain clear and the students will suffer no dlscotnfort from toxlo fumes In the plant. The new exhaurt system vill cost in the neighborhood of J1200. - . Authorization has been received, bearing Governor Paul Patterson's signature, for the expenditure of up to $5,000 for remodeling of dor mitories and classrooms. Purvine stated. Work Is being done by lo cal union carpenters, plumbers, electricians and workmen. Family Church Night Planned TULELAKE Sunday evening, August 39, will be family church night at the Tulelake Community Presbyterian Church. A potluck dinner Is to be served at '6: 30 p.m. In addition to food, those attend ing should take table service. Mrs. N. C. Wilkinson Is in charge of the dinner. A dish or two typical of those Berved in French Morocco will be served in honor of a new bride, Mrs. Malcolm Crawford who Is visiting here at the' home' of her husband's parents, Mr- and Mrs. Dan Crawford Sr. Sgt. Crawford who has served in the U.S. Air Force in Africa for the past 22 months was married last May. He will speak following the din ner hour. " BERLIN W The Communist East German government has cut the annual state subsidies paid to churches 30 per cent. East Berlin newspapers said Wednesday. New KF Fair Arena Planned Plans have been drawn for new sale pavilion and show arena at the fairgrounds, according to an announcement made by Bryant Williams at the 4-H and FFA auc tion sale Tuesday night. The new building Is expected to be constructed by fair lime next year if the county budget commit tee approves appropriations, as it has inferred it will. The sales arena will be the first project in a long range plan for complete re vamping of all buildings at me fairgrounds. Howard Perrin's architectural office has drawn plans for the es timated 450,000 building, which In clude a larger show ring and seat ing for 1,000 people. Percv Murray, member of the fairboard with Bryant Wtllaims nnd J.'-A. Johnson. Henley, said this moraine that the board's buildine plans have been made as it further step to make the fair grounds the central place for all countv activities. The grounds rep resent an estimated total invest ment of $200,000, Murray reminds county groups that there are kitchen facilities in the main exhibit building and meeting room which seats 100.
