OREGON PAGE THREE Math Teachers To Attend Meet Four mathematics teacher del eaates' from Klamath County and one from Lake County will attend the 14th summer meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics to be held at the University of Seattle, August 22 25. Southern Oregon Is one of the few communities outside of the Seattle district to be invited to participate. The University Puget Sound Council of Teachers of Mathema tics will cooperate with the Uni versity of Seattle as host organisation. Teacher delegates from here will be included in a sectional meeting sponsored by the Southern uregon council of the organiia. tion. Klamath County will be repi dented by Mrs. lsabelle Brixr.er, department supervisor, Klamath County school district; Mrs. Beu lah Elliott, Altamont Junior High School; Eva Burkhalter, Klamath Union High School, Oregon repre sentative. National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; Stanley Kendall, Henley High School and Mrs. Dora Brosius, Lakeview. Mrs. Brixner is currently at tending a summer session at, the University of Seattle. All of those attending from here will participate on some of the programs. OSC Meeting Slated For KF A family night program for stu dents, alumni and friends of Ore gon State College and OSC dads and mothers has been scheduled la Klunath Falls for Wednesday, August 26. at 8 p.m. in the YMCA. Bob Thompson, a 1925 OSC grad uate, is chairman of the local committee making arrangements for the meeting. Assisting Thomp son on the committee are Paul Deller, president of the OSC Dad's Club and Mrs. J. P. Elmore, president of the OSC Mothers' Club. OS3C athletic movies and slides of the campus will be shown as a feature of the pro gram. The meeting, sponsored by the Tulelake Legion Picnic Planned TULELAKE Paul Rogers, commander of Tuelake Post. No. 164, American Legion, and a large committee are working on the an nual picnic for the post members and families to be held Sunday, Augst 22,, 1 p.m. California time at the Malm Park. The picnic this year is a revi val of the custom followed for several years and then abandoned for some time. There will be free food and bev erages. The post Is sponsoring Nancy Young, niece of Mr, and Mrs, Sam Anderson for barley queen to rule over the annual Tulelake Butte Valley Fair, September 9 and 10. OSC Federation, is intended to provide information to high school students In the Klamath Falls and surrounding communities who have already been accepted for ad mission to OSC this fall and to bring their parents and members of the entire OSC family up-to-date on recent developments on the col lege campus. Three members of the OSC staff along with Bert Fames of Port land, president of the OSC Dads club last year, . will attend the Klamath Falls meeting. Staff members are William Langan, ag riculture student personnel advis er; Bob Knoll, alumni manager; and Joseph H. Berry, newly uamed executive secretary of the OSC Foundation. Students who will enter OSC this fall for the first time and their parents are especially invited to the meeting, according to Thomp son, along with all others Inter ested m the college. Students, new and old, are asked to bring their questions on entrance, housing. lees, courses, activities and simi- lar matters to the college repre sentatives. Refreshments will be served fol lowing the short program. Jeffries Barn Site For Hotel BURBANK. Calif. UWPlans to build a two-story, 100-room hotel on the Jim Jeffries barn site here were disclosed yesterday when the City Planning Board received a request for a somng variance on the site. The property houses the famous barn built by the late ex-heavyweight boxing champion. The barn has been unoccupied since March 1953, but before that was used as a training gym for young fighters and a site for amateur matches. Mexican Newspaper Without Telephone' MEXICO CITY W Ultimas No ticias, Mexico City's largest after noon newspaper, complained in a front-page story yesterday that it hasn't had a telephone for two weeks. The newspaper said it had re ported the breakdown to the tele phone company and every day had been promised quick action. But two weeks have passed without re sults, the paper said, and it is having "great difficulty" in cover ing the news.
