The big car, lit holds 64 passengers), is only 20 inches higher than an ordinary car, is terraced on two levels, with a cocktail bar in the lower level, and is done in the Chinese motif, with leaves from all over China used in the glass panels. Fully air conditioned, the car is currently making runs along SP'i lines testing customer reaction. The new car was built in the SP's Sacramento shops. i Ike's Cabinet Visit Resort THURMONT. Md. Wr President Eisenhower plays host to mem bers of his cabinet today at his secluded lodge here in the Catoc tin Mountains. The cabinet officers were sched uled to arrive from Washington, 65 miles to the south, late in the morning to meet with the chief executive for a brief business ses sion. The rest of the day was given over to recreation at the Presi dent's Camp David retreat, where he often spends weekends. In announcing plans for the in formal outing at his news con ference Wednesday, Eisenhower said there would be swimming in the camp pool for those who want ed a dip. KLAMATH 1 Langell Soil Contest Told Langell Valley soil conservation district has entered the national Soil Conservation Awards pro gram sponsored by the Goodyear Tire It Rubber Co. oi A k r o n. Ohio, it was announced today by District Chairman Lloyd Gift, of Bonanza. Members of Langell Valley dis trict will compete against other soul conservation districts in the state. Non-partisan judging com mittees, selected from Oregon's outstanding exponents of the soil conservation movement, will de 'ermine the state's outstanding district for the period May 1, 1954 and April 30, 1955 on a basis of total points scored in perform ance of regular district duties. Grand award for one member of each winning district governing body and the top cooperating farmer or rancher named by the district will be a one-weeK, ex pense-free, vacation trip to Good- year's fabulous winter resort, the Wigwam Guest ranch on Goodyear Farms, Litchfield Park, Ariz., In December, 1955. Members of the Langell Valley district governing body who will compete for the Goodyear award are: Walter Smith, Pete Hric ziscse, Louis Randall, Bill Bur nett, Dave Campbell, Ed Casebeer and Lloyd Gift. National winners of the Good year Soil Conservation Awards will be honored at the seven reg ular area meetings of the National Association of Soil Conservation districts. Twelve steps which may be taken to reduce harvest damage are listed and six steps to reduce damage while binning the crop are shown. Speeds of draper and conveyor chains are also discussed. Benson has announced changes in regulations governing the election, qualifica tions and duties of cotuity and community agricultural stabiliza tion and conservation committee men, states. Farm Adviser Ken Baghott. Major changes would: 1. Create county and community election boards which would con duct the annual elections of com mitteemen. 2. Limit to three the number of .consecutive terms a farmer may serve as a county or community committeeman, except thai where all three members of the county committee have already served three consecutive terms one mem ber shall be eligible for election to one additional term. 3. Prohibit county committeemen from acting: (a) as sales agents or employes of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation: b mar keting quota review commitecmen and to as employes of their own county offices. " THIEF CHICAGO Un Michael Meegan, 42, told Municipal Judge Oscar S. Caplan yesterday that he stole five pounds of coffee from a store because he had been drinking and needed something to sober him up. Judge Caplan sent him to the city jail for 15 days. Police departments In key New England cities were warned by Massachusetts state police that at least one escapee has a gun and that all five are dangerous. . This was the second break for four of the men In the last three months. The convicts were said to have taken as hostage prison guard Walter F. De Adder, 29, of Lawrence: . ' The men were identified as: James L. Schwann, 37, of Mai den, serving 6 to 8 years for robbery.- William J. Couture, 40, of Taun ton, serving 14 to 17 years for the 1942 holdup shooting of a Boston storekeeper. Martin F. Feeney, 38, of Boston, serving 12 to 15 years for a 1949 Belmont bank robbery that netted $5,710. Richard Lavoie, 40. of Woon socket, R.I., serving 12 to 15 years for shooting a policeman during a drug store holdup in Watertown. The men boldly walked out of the prison's main gate at 10:20 p.m. last night under circum stances described as follows by prison authorities: Halliday, locked in his cell, cre ated a disturbance which attracted the attention of guard Ralph Haley. Unable to quiet Halliday, Haley called guards Joseph Rivet and Donald Langdon to take him to the security building. When the two guards opened his cell door Halliday whipped out a revolver and ordered Rivet and Langon to walk in front of him. Using them as a shield, Halliday got the guard in the tower to low er his machinegun and open the gates to the receiving room.
