A new vehicle, larger than the present one which has been in use for several years will cost approximately $6,000. Farm Ammoeiio Suuoly Told For the first time hlnce the am monia boom began in the North west, the needs ot Oregon, Wash ington and Idaho for agricultural and industrial ainmonia can now be amply supplied by Pacific Coast production, and by late this year the Northwest will have liquid ammonia storage facilities located in the center of its mar kets, according to G. R. Monk- house, vice president of Shell Chem ical corporation s ammonia division. The Increased supply Is due to the opening of new plants, such as the one opened ln Ventura. Cali fornia, last year, plus expanded facilities of other producers In the West and Canada. The storage terminals ln the Northwest, on which Shell began major construction this week, are designed to provide the area with upwards of 50.000 tons of ammonia a year. The ammonia will be man ufactured at Shell's plant in Pitts burg, California, and shipped by oceangoing barges to the Portland 1 terminal, where part of the cargo ' will be stored and part trans- chirmnH tn Pawn Wnh Pflil. road tank cars will carry the pro- j ducts from Pasco and Portland to Northwest markets. TL Ambulance Funds Souoht TULELAKB A porchll(;ht cam paign to raise funds for the pur chase of a modern ambulance, sponsored by the 20-30 Club will get under way, Tuesday, August 11, and will continue through Sep tember 3, according to co-chairmen Harry Santos and DeRoy Simpson. The vehicle will be presented to the city of Tulelake. All members of the club will sslst -with the fund raising. Dona tions will be sought from organi zations and individuals. Lighted porches will Indicate that a con tribution is waiting. The ambulance will be manned by 30-30 Club members. The present ambulance ln use for Ight years Is still answering cnlls but is inadequate in both size and speed. The 20-30 Club, desiring to Improve the ambulance service, in augurated the move to buy a new one. The vehicle now in Use Is equipped to handle two patients. The new one will cure for three. A respirator Is carried with the ambu lance on all runs. Service runs will Include com munities of Tulelake. Merrill. Ma lin, Neweil and Tionesta and the ambulance will be available any where in Southern Oregon or Northern California on disaster call. The campaign Is rated as the largest fund drive ever attempted here by an organization. Estimnted cost of the new service car is $U.0oo.
