THURSDAY, AUGUST 5. Iqsj HERALD AND NEWS, KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON PAGE TWO Sportsmen To Hold Work Day Hie Klamath Sportsmen's Asso ciation has scheduled an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. work day Sunday, Aug ust 8 a, the association's club house at the end of Dover Street. Needed are carpenters, especial ly, with tools; at least one elec trician, and a couple of plumbers. In addition there will be plenty ot work lor those who are willing - to handle shovels. Potluck dinner will be served at noon. Coffee and soft drinks will be supplied by the association. Bring cups and table service. Whole families are welcome as there is adequate space for the youngsters to play, off the high way. An abutment of soft dirt has been pushed up about 70 yards from the clubhouse, on the club grounds, for archery and small bore rifle practice. Care was taken so that no jocks are In the dirt which would dull broadheads. Members are reminded that there is plenty of space on the grounds for sighting in deer riiles If they bring their own targets. Antelope season opens lute in August, archery season on Sep tember 11 and in October there Is deer season. Klamath Act Slated The O'Hagnn's are here again. Twenty nix years ago J. Barney "Pop" O'H.igan, and Mrs, O'Ha gan who is Mom, opened in the Pelican theater. This week they are back in Klamath County with their acts of vaudeville, a homey repertoire of dances, comedy. songs and sayings. Salt. The troupe has Just returned from Alaska where they played to service troops at Fort Richardson and other army camps. Prior to that they played in Honolulu and the South Pacific Islands for serv ice - men, traveling to the Mar shalls, the Johnson Islands, Kwa jalcm and others. Mrs. O'Hagan is a native Oregon ian, bom at Eugene where her parents took up a homestead on the McKenzie River in 1865. They lost two sons in the recent war. Tile family in show business for 50 years, has appeared with Bob Hope, on the Jack Benny Show, the Dennis Day Show, the Red Skelton show and numerous others and are rated top entertainment. They play free of charge for old people's homes, children's hospi tals and army camps. Next week they will present an evening show, to residents and per sonnel at the Klamath Nursing Home. Scouts Return From Camp MAUN Boys of the Malln Boy Scout troop returned homo Saturday, July 31, from a week of camping at Crescent Lake. Scout Master Leonard Weber ac companied the boys. E. Van Vactor. Torres was alleged to have gone berserk in the barroom of the Hall way House at Blv on July 25. firing live shots and critically wounding Leon E. Jenkins, Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. employe. Four witnesses appeared at tha preliminary hearing for Torres. Af ter hearing their testimony. Judge Van Vactor ruled there was suf ficient evidence to hold Torres for the grand jury.
