Turn now to the classified section if vou thini Ives ana i my fend your delicate stomach. This ballard singer is a great eater, all 260 pounds of him. He's a ureal chef too. If you cook a hunk of goat or chevon as the fancy cook book calls it you will be disadvantaged because you won't have Ives' ballads between bastings. If be should turn up at your house, which is doubtful be cause he is busy playing the sheriff in "East of Eden." don't ask him to sing "Blue Tail Fly." He's be ginning to hate it. What you do Is get a leg (we had four) of chevon from the nearest goatery. Punch three or four holes in same and insert a clove of garlic in each. Put the meat in a roasting pan and sprin kle soya and Worcestershire over it. Then pour on a generous amount of melted butter. Shake on some freshly ground pepper. Have the oven preheated, at 300 degrees, and bake about three hours. Baste every 15 minutes. Then mix one cup of papaya nec tar, one cup of pineapple juice and the Juice of one lemon. On the home stretch, during the last 20 minutes whirl the oven to 500 de grees and baste every two min utes with the nectar-juice mixture. OLDS-CADILLAC WEEKLY SPECIAL! Ives has eaten In the finest places all over the world, but the taste thrill he remembers is that supplied by a Persian melon in Arabia. He gets poetic about it. "I had played for some arabs and in thanks they sent a melon but whac a melon. It was raised in the king's private garden, fertilized by camel dung 500 years old. What farming! To eat that melon wts a great sensation. It touched every mcmbranb that Is capable of re sponding to taste. The thrill could be compared only to the vibrations of a song."
