Cordon was responsible for one of the nicest of the many nlco things which happened to Oregon's four- member delegation to the annual national encampment of 4-H Clubs here last week. To each of the four, two boys and two girls, Senator Cordon pre sented an autographed copy ol the prized Agriculture Department yearbook, "Crops, in peace ana in War." It was the first trip back east for any of the youngsters, who era returning to Oregon by train In midweek, and the session with Sen stnr Cordon, who chatted easily with them about his recent and im portant inspection trip to the Fa. cllio trust territories, was easily one of the highlights of the trip. 4-H Boys Win Purebred Pigs At a drawing held recently In Merrill, 4-H'ers Ronnie Adamak, Malln, and Norbcrt Anthes, Tule- lake, were the winners of two young registered purebred Berk shire gilts donated by Merrill Lodge No. 308, Loyal Order of Moose, In accepting the pigs Uie boys agreed to show them at the 4-H Fair this fall and to breed them at the proper time to a purrbred Berkshire boar. When the siwe farrow the first time, each boy must return two gilts from the lit ter to the Moose Lodge who will in turn give the four pigs to other 4-H pig club members the fol lowing year. Jack Mitcham Children Told To Catch Spies MOSCOW I Russian children are being told In their own news paper that they can help catch spies. Major Soviet pspers recently have been publishing frequent re ports of "American-trained" spies and subversives captured In the Soviet Union. It is claimed that the Americans train Russian de serters and political exiles in West Germany, then parachute them back into the Soviet Union. These reports are part of a new cam paign of vigilance in which the people are warned of the "foreign danger to our moinenana. Now comes Pioneer Pravada, the paper for Russian small fry, with drawings, to tell how children can contribute to this vigilance cam paign and catch spies. Pioneer Pravada's poem tells about four little boys of the pioneer organization who went fishing. They met a man who also was llshlng and with a fancy rod and reel which the boys envied. The man also had a camera, and offered to take the boys' picture. But he concentrated on getting the boys to stand where a big factory would be in the background. - The kids reported this and other developments to the police, who arrested the plan. The poem concludes: "You are good boys. You Pioneers. You were not Idle There on the shore. You caught a real big fish, Even though you had Primitive fishing tackle."
