IN FULL COURTSHIP PLUMAGE, the sage grouse puts on a
spectacular wildlife thow every morning in Lake, Harney and
Malheur Counties. The cocks dance to attract the hens, and
fight savagely over them. Indian ceremonial dances have been
based, on the motions of the dancing cocks. Only the wild
turkey is larger than the saga grouse, as far as upland game
birds are concerned.
