Peter Yad lowsky, 23, of Jersey City, N.J., said he was "honored." shimek also expressed appreci ation for the interest taken by Sen. Saltonstall (R -Mass) and his armed services committee which bad started looking into the delay of the commissions. Shimek said he was "grateful for the interest which is indicative ot everything good for the country and the in dividual." - The young officers didn't want to talk any more of the grounds on which the Navy had investi gated their cases. Pollack did say that he had no idea why he was investigated unless it had some thing to do with "associations which I really never had." Yadlowski's father and Shimek's mother had earlier voiced their opinions of why their sons's com missions were being held up. The father said he thought it was be cause he had once taken out an insurance policy on the boy from the International Workers Order, later listed by the attorney gen eral as subversive. Shimek's mo ther said she was born in Siberia and Paul has a brother studying law in Poland and that may have been the reason for his delay. Chicago Beef Sales Up CHICAGO (.? Host prices de clined this week, barrows and gilts losing 25 cents to $1.00. Sows were mainly 75 cents down. ' Sows comprised 31 per cent ot the salable receipts. The closing top at $26.25 was the lowest top since March 18 and the average price of barrows and gilts at the close of the week was the lowest since early January. Sow prices were the lowest since last Novem ber. Increased receipts and lower wholesale pork prices were in back of the decline. Pork loms fell $5.00 to $6.00 at some points. Cattle receipts were 20 per cent larger than last week and the lar gest since January, except for one week in May. A large share of the run consisted of steers fed in theco rn belt. Slaughter steers and heifers were steady to 50 cents lower. Most other sections were weak, although cows scored gains. Spring lambs fell $2.00 or more and old crop lambs were unevenly $1.50 to $2.50 down. In the whole sale market spring lamb carcasses sold $1.00 to $2.00 higher while old crop lambs turned at steady to $1 00 lower rates.
