Lake Shrine Dance Slated LAKE VIEW Hie eighth annual Lake County Shrine Club dance to benefit the Shriner's hospital for crippled children will be held on Saturday night, June 19, at Gary's Skat'erdance, Dr. W. J. Strleby has been appointed general chair man by E. B. MacKay, president of the club. Ibis dance, first held here In 1947. is one of the bigger social events of the year. All proceeds go to the Shriner's hospital where crippled children are treated from this area, without regard to race. color, religion, social standing or financial status. Gene Anderson's orchestra, will provide the music. Service Station To Be Built MERRILL Preliminary work started this past week on the con struction of a new Union Oil Sta tion, on the corner of Main and Front streets, the former location of the old Safeway building demol ished last February. Tanks with a capacity of 12,000 gallons have been installed, and necessary filling in and levelling of the lot has been completed. ' The station will cost an estima ted 135,000, and should be com pleted by the middle of July, pin niger and Watkins of Klamath Falls are the contractors. Town Band for Lakeview Planned LAKE VIEW Plans for a town ' band, to present weekly concerts for a month during this summer, are underway and rehearsal has been set by Jim Arment, band di rector, In the Lakeview schools, for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the high school band room. Arment asked for anyone who can play a band Instrument to at tend the meeting. His plans are to nave practice sessions on Mon day and Thursday nights and after June 10, to present concerts at 8 p.m. at the Youth park. The first concert is set for June 17. Mary O'Neill, Mary El len Erickson, Cherry Wolff, Linda Clive and Sheila Riddle, of the Little Acorns, and Mrs. pearl Ada mo, leader. Mrs. Melita Hall and Mrs. Darlene Wolff will be guar dians of this new Camp Fire group. A campsbip was awarded to Hel en Hescock forelllng 88 boxes of mints, by Mrs. Pearl Adamo, candy chairman. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bradfleld, Salem, gave a campship money gift for a deserv ing girl which was presented to Sally Swanson. . , Guests from the wad Rose Blue Birds were Cathy Peters and Don na Kircher and leaders. Day Camps To Be Held Camp Fire Girls will sponsor two weeks of Day Camping for girls at M 0,0 r e Park starting Tuesday, June 15, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurs day and Friday. In announcing the Day Camp dates, Mrs. Naomi French, execu tive director, said "Camp Fire Girls take pride in presenting the Day Camping program as a com munity service, making the pro gram available to all girls, 6 years to 18. All girls living near Klamath Falls are welcome and seed not be members of Camp Fire Oirls. The fee is very low. 33.73 for the two weeks, which includes transporta tion to and from the park by bus, milk and program supplies. The Camp Fire office is now re ceiving registrations, and bus schedules will be given to girls when registering. "Day Camping Is what the name implies camping by the day. The program is full of actlvites for fun and adventure. Campers learn the skills of fire building, use of an ax and pocket knife, campflre building and lashing, as well as an appreciation of the out-of-doors through nature lore." Mrs. Earl Clark will once again direct the Day Camping program, and will be assisted by Camp Fire leaders and Horizon girls.
