in for the annual Pleasure Park
rodeo to be held here Sunday.
The cowboy and cowgirl parade
starts at 12:30 with the main show
being staged at 1 p.m.
New this year will be the kids'
calf riding contest with prises lor
all who can keep their scats. Team
roping will be confined to Stsknou
county entries only. Added feature
event will be trick riding oy Maria

Crippled Children's dance which is scheduled for tha Armory
this Saturday night, May I. Last year Hillah Temple of tha
Shrine contributed over $25,000 to the hospital, which is lo
cated in Portland and aids crippled children -throughout tha
entire state. Funds for the hospital are obtained largely
through dances similar to the one scheduled for this Saturday
night. Baldy's Band will provide music for dancing from 9

fused to slon the loyalty oath re
quired of welfare commission
workers since last November be

worker.
J. Warrington Stokes, county wel
fare administrator, satd she want
ed to appeal the dlschsrge to the
Stole Civil Service Commission,
but was denied a hearing because
she had not been with the com
mission six months.
Miss Patten, who once worked
In Poland for the United Nations
Relief and Rehabilitation Adminis
tration, said she opposed the loy
alty oath because It "Is not a sound
method of detecting Communists
and subversives, but Is a device
conceived by . . . aelf-secklng men
posing as guardians of American
freedom."
She said also It "Is a first step in
chipping away individual freedom"
and "has arisen out of the fear
and suspicion of one American for
another. Instead of allaying dis
trust. It will Increase It."
The oath requires the signer to
swear "that I do not advocate, nor
am I a member of any political
party or organliation that advo
cates the overthrow of the govern
ment of the United States or of
this' state by force and violence."
