MARK BEACH the bass mem ber of the popular and famed "Os wego Pour" has another good rea son (other the SPEBSQSA) for a kindred feeling for the Klamath country is that he was born in Lakeview where his father owned the .newspaper also' mentioned in passing that son Scott was pro gressing nicely In Paris where he's studying on a Fulbright Scholar- "Clean-Up Day" At Bonanza Library BONANZA "Clean Up Day" was held all day April 12 at the Bonanza Library. The women took vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, etc., and really did a bang up job. The floors had been sanded, varnished and waxed, so every thing Is neat as a pin. Windows were washed and even the yard got some attention. A sack lunch was eaten at noon, with coffee furnished by the Bo nanza Women's Club. The accom plished musicians and soloists from both Eugene and Klamath Falls featured on the program were applavded long and heartily by those who attended the meet ing in the City Library clubrooin. Mrs. Don zumwalt, music chairman, arranged the program, which Included Mrs. D. E. Van Vactor and Miss Ruth Lobaugh, duo pianists; Miss Exlne Ander son, soprano; Arthur Bailey, tenor; and Stacey L. Green at the piano. Presiding In tile East was Doris Smith, worthy matron and Jess Smith, worthy patron. A beautiful ceremony commem orated the Easter season. White lilies were placed on a white cross and appropriate verses and music were used by the participating otn- ceis. The worthy matron's birthday is In April and a surprise addenda was given her. She was also pre sented with a birthday cake. Coming as another surprise was the presentation of a cake to Mer- vyn Wilde, associate patron, whose birthday fell upon the meeting night. One candidate received the de grees of the order and was wel comed into the chapter. Members voted to turn over the sum of S200 to the Malin Masonic Lodge for further Improvements on Uie hall. Following the meeting, members gathered In the dining room for re freshments. Tables were appropri ately decorated with Easter bun nies and nests of randy eggs. Jerri Lou Waltmeir, who leaves soon for Oklahoma to Join her hus band, was the recipient of a sur prise handkerchief shower during the refreshment hour. O Wusst Ich doch den weg zuruck by Brahms. T. Burleigh. Duets sung by Miss Ander son and Bailey Included "Domlne Dues" from B Minor Mass by uacn, "o Terra Aaio" from Alda, by Verdi, and "Bess, You Is My Woman Now" from Porgy and Bess, by Gershwin, as an encore. Miss Lobaugh-- and Mrs. Van Vactor played "First Movement of Concerto in A Minor'r by fichu man. Mrs. Guy Hancock, Mrs. Loren Palmerton, Mrs. Ray Lamb, end Mrs. Dick Miller Sr. arranged the attractive room decorations, Mrs. Dean Osborn, tea chairman and Mrs. Walter Wiesendanger. decorated the tea table. Assisting on the tea committee were Mrs, Leslie Wright. Mrs. Horace Getz, Mrs. Philip Cole. Mrs. Neil Black and Mrs. L. D. Leslie. Pouring were Mrs. Don Zumwalt and Mrs. Fred Hongland. Mrs. George Adlcr, was hostess to Miss Anderson, Arthur Bailey in Klamath Falls; and Mrs. An drew Loney Jr. greeted members and guests at the door. Several members of the board of directors will attend the Ore gon Federation of Women's Clubs district meeting at Cave Junc tion April 14. They are Mrs. Rob ert A. Thompson, Library Club president, Mrs. Clarence Ward, Mrs, Fred Hoagland, Mrs. Jack Schulzc, Mrs. John Ashley and Mrs. Walter Brown. , The next Library Club meeting will be May 10 when election of officers will be held. Her paternal - grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Briscoe Sr., Greeley, Colora do. Highlight of tomorrow will be her christening in the Covenant Church. Happy Hour Club The Happy Hour Club met with Louise Humphrey at Jen-Ed's, March 23, at 1:30 p.m., with the hollowing members present: Eva Richardson, Lorn Evans, Lillian White, Anna Biehn, Emma Hamil ton, Anna Rceder, Ruth Heldrlch, Alma Cofer, Adeline Cofer, Maud Hosley, Jennie Hum, Alice Law rence and Lina Motschenbacher. Louise Humphrey's guest of the afternoon was Hazel Drlnkwater. Mothers Club ' At the IOOF Hall on April 12, an organization meeting of Rain bow girls mothers was held. Mrs. Z. Carter explained the aims and projects ot other Rainbow mothers groups In Oregon and California. Mrs. Fred Williams was elected chairman; and Mrs. VirgU Beclc with, secretary treasurer. Mrs. Elwood Ouock, worthy ma tron of Mantanlta Chapter, order of Eastern Star, and Mrs. William Fink, associate matron, attended the meeting. Mrs. Williams invited the group to her home for the next meeting AprU 24, at g p.m. Any Rainbow mother - interested Is welcome to join the group.
