Klamath Falls Chapter, honored Mn. Earl (Margaret! Slier! 'dan, this year's winner of -the club's annual award as "Woman of Achievement," at a dinner for members and guests in the Pina Grove Room, of the Willard Hotel,' March 23. The out standing Klamath Falls woman was pictured in Wednesday's Herald and News with Mrs. Robert A. (Kathleen) Thompson, who verbally listed the many and varied contributions made by Mrs. Sheridan which directly benefited the community and especially supported youth programs. The same picture also ran in the Northwest News section of the Oregon Journal on Friday, March 26. K After the actual award, Mrs. David (Bess) Campbell, Eugene member of the Sorop timiit Club, and staff member of Station KORE, was introduced as guest speaker' of the eve ning. The pictures of the dinner audience, taken at different times during her informal and Camp Fire Girls in Dorris Join National Birthday Celebration Camp Fire Girls in Dorris have been busy celebrating the organiza tion's 44th birthday. Joan Wemple and Stephanie Ryer, Horizon Club girls arranged a window display at the Dorris Drug Store using the Camp Fire flag, a ceremonial gown, honor beads, symbols ot rank and samples of handwork made by girl members. . . . .. . . The Katlna Klemcntina Horizon Club held a progressive dinner Thursday night. In order to earn the birthday honor, the meal had to Include five' courses, each repre senting a different country. The group started with French onion soup prepared by Darlenej Enloe, Darlene Wallace and Lin da Wire at the home of Mrs. Arch MHllgan: next was a Hawaiian sal ad at Mrs. Dolorez Sundkvist'3, served in traditional luau style in wooden bowls on the floor. Each girl was given a crepe paper lei. Mrs. Sundkvist and Sharon Gordon prepared the salad. The party went next to Stephanie Ryer's for chill, enchiladas and fried cactus prepared by the host ess and Marilyn Ward; after Mexi co came Italy, with spaghetti and meat balls with garlic bread at Shirley Burkhart's, with Shirley end Carol Dean as hostesses. For the final course, they-went to Margaret Hamilton's, where Margaret and Joan Wemple served Swedish nut bread, date nutbars and coifee. Then the tired (but no longer hungry) girls watched Grou cho Marx on television. A Friendship Fire was held Tues day night at the Dorris City Hall. Camp Fire songs were sung by members before the open fire in the fireplace. Llndell Hamilton, Tha'ya Olson and Carol Dean gave short talks on the organllatton of the Tanda Camp Fire and Horizon Club groups, explaining their ranks and honors. The Tanda Group char ter is now sixteen years old. New and younger girls have joined each vear, keeping the old charter In good standing. The Horizon Club is now four years old. The Dorris Camp Fire Girls are members of the Klamath Falls council. Prosperity ' ' 'Rebekah Lodge Prosperity Rebekah Lodge No. 104 met March 18, in the IOOF Hall with the regular officers of ficiating. Seven candidates were Initiated in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony. They were then welcomed alter signing the membership roll. The Rebekah assembly of Ore gon is set for May 18, in Grants Pass, with state president, Lola F. Osborne and her assembly officers In charge. The local Rebekah convention of district No. 16 will Include an all day and evening session in the IOOF Hall on May 22, under the direction of the chairman, Bernice Mccracken and her assisting offi cers. The next regular lodge meeting will be April 1, when plans for the two conventions will be dis cussed. At the regular business meeting following the din ner, plans were discussed for the coming summer. VI Ruge, Darlene Blackman and Loretta Stephens comprised the committee. The dinner was potluck, and prizes were awarded for the most original costumes to Ralph Dunlavey and Ernestyne Read. Games and square dancing were the events of the evening. Committee in charge was Georgia Lane and Dorothy Ktricpairick. Next meeting of the Klamath Saddle Club will be April 6 at the home of Georgia Lane for election of officers. It was an all day meeting, and each member brought a hot dish for the luncheon served at noon. One quilt was pieced and tied, and pieces were cut for other quilts to be made at a later date. Future meetings are at the hall to complete the quilts, and all co workers are invited to help, Members answering roll call were Rose Baley, Tulelake; Anna Hartlerode, Myrtle Kucera, and Susan Williams of Merrill; Rose Van Meter and Olga Bradshaw of Malm.
