Oregon Barley
To Increase
Reports from the State Market
iuK Offlco indicates that barley
and oats will Increase considerably
this year, Wheat acreage is due
to be cut and Marlon D. Thomas,
extension economist at Oregon
State College suys this cut will be
about 28 per cent. Tills is mainly
acreage taken out of wheat under
marketing quotas and planted to
either grains. He estimates that
linrley acreage In Oregon will be
Vp 70 per cent and oat acreage
up 33 per cent.
This follows the national pattern
of dimming acreage from bnslc
commodity crops under marketing
quotas, and planting to other
grains and general field crops.
Copies of the farm outlook will
cover this situation in more de
tail and will soon be available,
according to county agent, C, A.
