Mrs. Nadlne Colvln, president of the Klamath County Quola Club, has received a pro clamation from Mrs. Bess C. Noble. Memphis, Tennessee, international president, calling upon each si filiated Quota Club lo devole one of its February meetings lo a birthdav observance. In her nroclamation. Mrs. Noble urged that Quotarians everywhere give full cooperation and assistance 10 women with leadership, in their respective communities, and that they encourage all pnases 01 eouca tional advancement. She also sug gested that recognition of tile achievements of women be a part of the birthday observance of local Quota Clubs. Qiinln Club International was founded in Buffalo, New York, m December, 1918, and received us charter the following February. Sojourners Is an organization ponsorea by the Chamber of Com merce for the purpose of providing newcomers to Klamath Falls a means to form acquaintances and to eliminate that lonely new-to-a- town feeling. It was the dream of five Buffalo business women wno naa oeen guests at a Christmas party given by the Kiwanis Club of that city. Inspired by the help that Kiwanis was giving underprivillged boys, these .-.omen Interested other busi ness women In joining a club that would be dedicated to helping un derprivileged girls. They named the club "Quota", which means ' a share. Today there are 258 Quota Clubs in the United States, Alas ka, Canada, Mexico and Austra lia, with a total membership of 8,200. Although girl's service Is still on Important Quota project, ac cording to Alice Vitus, aid to the hard of healing has been receiving particular emphasis as an Inter national project, during the past six years. Helen Majors points out a total of $19,177 to help accous lically handicapped children and adults. This money made possible contributions to speech and hear ing clinics and Up rending classes; purchases of audiometers, hearing aids and batteries; scholarships for training teachers for hard of hear ing children; and educational pro grams pointing out the importance of hearing tests for children. In ad dition, Quotarians gave tnousanos of hours of volunteer service. Mrs. Colvln has appointed the following committee to plan the local Quota Club's observance of the International organize tion's birthday: Canna Fyock, chair man, Edith Lantz, assistant. AUGUSTINE'S ALTAR SOCIETY St. Augustine's Altar Society met February 3, In the parish hall, with hostesses were Mrs. Don Harris, Mrs. Ben Murphy, Mrs. Dale Walker and Mrs. Hugh Fal vcy. The president, Mrs. Dan Cash man reported that new linen had been purchased for the parish house.
