This committee is established by law and each member is appointed by the State Board of Education." Appointments are made by the State Board from nominations made by state organi zations Members of t.'ie committee who attended the recent meeting at Oregon Tech represent these state organizations and widely spaced geographical areas of the state. v '- ..." The duties of the State Advisory Committee are those of recommending general policy, actions to! the Stote : Board of Education. By spending an evening and the next day on the campus, members of the Advisory Committee develop an acquaintance with staff members. and op erating policies that is very helpful to the State Board of Education which meets only in Salem.. The recom mendations of the State Advisory Committee are' viewed with confidence by members of the State Board of Edu cation during its regular meetngs when the. OTI agenda is-under consideration.
