They made their first report in a tech nical bulletin. Sewage Is inoculated with nn assortment of ordinary Microbes and then aerated to promote bac terial activity. Three kinds of hot atoms have been added for the test radio iodine, radio phos phorous and radio stontlum. The cleansed water which comes out of the sewage treatment tanks is tested for radioactivity. This test Is a measure ol how much Of the dangerous material has been picked up by the microbes. The tests thus far show that thev pick up Eome of it in their lood gather uiir process but Hint tiie amount varies widely. The experimenters also tried planting the microbes on a bed ot rocks and then running the sew age over them.
