On Cheesed Potatoes
When you're faced with leftover
baked potatoes, be glad. Here's a
dish that's sure to get them up in
the morning on time for breakfast.
Remove skins and cut in small
dice the baked potatoes. Arrange

of a buttered shallow baking dish
or platter. Break desired number
of eggs In center of the ring.
Sprinkle generously with salt and
pepper both the eggs and potatoes.
Dot with butter, then dribble cream
or undiluted evaporated milk over
the potatoes, enough to moisten
well, and then some more over the
eggs, allowing about 2 tablespoons
to an egg.
Cover potato ring with a thick
layer of coarsely grated or thinly
sliced American cheese. Bake In a

Eisenhower Starts Second Year in The White House

Eisenhower started his second
year in the White House Wednes
day and received a surprise gift
depleting bis career from boynooa
on a Kansas farm to the presi
dency. -.
The gift,, a handsome 12! i Inch
cup made of Steuben glass, was
presented to the President at a
ceremony in the cabinet room at
the White House commemorating
the first- anniversary of bis inau
guration. With a smiling Mrs. Elsenhower
looking on, the President received
the gift from the members of his
Cabinet, Republican Party offi
cials, leaders of the Citizens for
Elsenhower Committee and the
White House staff.
In advance of the ceremony, a
close associate of the President
declared "he's thriving on the
challenge'' of the big Job ahead.
. Surrounded by donors of the'
gift, Eisenhower pulled out' a
pocket knife and slit the white
paper in which the big box was
wrapped and removed the red,,
white and blue ribbon.
"It's Just beautiful," Mrs. Elsen
hower exclaimed as the President
removed the cup from the box.
She wore ft navy blue dress, a
small blue hat with pink trim and
pink gloves to match. At her
shoulder was pinned a large or
chid. ' : -'
The cup was fashioned by hand
of clear crystal and mounted on a
pedestal base where the Presi
dent's name Is Inscribed on a
plaque. i
The large central engraving on
the crystal carries the eagle of the
presidential seal. The eagle sur
mounts tnree emblems.
Those are the Insignia, of the
Supreme Headquarters Allied Ex
peditionary Forces, of which Ei
senhower became commander dur
ing World War II; the emblem
from the flag of Army ' chief of
staff, symbolizing his service in
that capacity from 1945 to 1948;
and the insignia of Supreme Head
quarters, Allied Power Europe, of
which he became the first com
mander in 1951.

ly without stirring until golden

brown well. Finish out the meal
with chilled orange Juice and raisin
bread toast.

J. Saxe Feb. 14, 192U, at Moneu,
Mo.
Last Jan. 12 Saxe died at the
age of 61. He had been a St. Louis
resident for 21 years..
Mrs. Saxe said the estate
amounted to about S8,000 personal

slipped on a rain-soaked foot
bridge and toppled into a swollen
creek near here yesterday. All'
three drowned.
Victims 'were Mrs. James Sims,
21; Larry, 2; and David, 2 months.
A third son, James jr., who also
fell in, was rescued by his father.
