The colorful and impressive ritualistic cere mony was dedicated to the late Lucille Heifer, past noble grand. Officers for 1954 were installed in the impressive ceremony, which started at 8 p.m. Something new has been added, to the picture this year . . . members of the chapter with the exception of the organist and Mrs. Gueck are all wearing their new red dresses with pearl and silver sequin embroidery. Newly installed Worthy Matron, Lois Gueck, wore White net over red taffeta, for the important occasion. Pnoto by Kettler Manzanita Chapter 172, OES Sixth Installation Of Officers Mnnzimitn Chapter No. 172 of ! the Order ol the Eastern Star held its sixth installation lor 1954 Officers, Friday, Jan. 8 at the IOOP Hall ill a public ceremony at 8 p.m. The hall was decorated with ' white trellises and re,i roses at ! each, station. A large arrangement of red roses in front of the 2 worthy matron's station in the I East. Gates of white with red roses s were In the southeast and north j east, lending a festive air to the r evening. The meeting opened with 1953 officers assuming their stations. The welcome address was given , by the retiring worthy matron, Helen McCornack, The Bible was : - opened without form. Retiring ; worthy patron. Alan Betch of- 1 1, fered his appreciation to the chap i ji tor and added his welcome to the i j retiring worthy matron's. Our national flag was escorted to the East by the associate patron with the escort of the marshal. The distinguished guests es corted East were, Worthy Matron Lois Thomas; and Worthy Patron Douglas Thomas of Cnnoy Cross Tulelake: Worlhy Matron Doris Smith and Worlhy Patron Jess Smith, Prosperity Chapter No. 160, Malln, Worthy Patron, Hairy Dens more, Troutdale chapter No. 80, Troutdale. Distinguished guests Introduced were: Lawrence French, worship ful master or Crater Lake Lodge No, 211; Harry Densmore. worship ful master of Falrvlew Lodge, Troutdale; Alva Oldham, district deputy of the grand master of Ore gon, AF and AM; Charles York land, high priest of the Royal Arch Masons; Irene Markham, worthy high priestess; and John Larson, watchman of the shepherds of Nao mi Shrine, No. 5. White Shrine of Jerusalem; James Hunter, royal patron of Amaranth; Edith Bar leen. mother adviser of the Order of Rainbow for Girls; Donna Beck Kith, worlhy advisor of the Order of Roinbow for Girls: Rena Old ham, worthy matron-elect: and Ray mond Owens, worthy patron-elect of Aloha Chapter No. 61. Installing otflcors escorted and introduced were: Thelma Crcs well, installing matron: John Lar son, Installing patron; Vera Fritch, installing marshal; Kathleen Ward, Installing chaplain: Corinne Larson. Installing organist. The retiring march of the 1953 officers was followed by the color ful entrance of the 1954 officers. The Installation march was the new 1954 line of march led by the Installing marshal. Each officer wore a red .formal and carried a while mult centered with a corsage of red roses and whlto streamers. Worthy matron elect, Lois Gueck, wore a red satin formal with oversklit of white net, and she carried a while Bible centered with corsattc of red roses and whila streamers tipped with red rose buds. Lois Onerk was Installed as wor thy matron and escorted East and passed beneath a rainbow formed in her honor by the Rainbow Girls. Lols's son Jay, played two piano solos in his mother's honor: and the newly installed worthy matron was presented a bouquet of red roses by Gus Vlahos on behalf of Crater Lake Lodge No. 211. Everett Biehn was Installed as worthy patron and was. escorted East. Linda Hall played two piano solos in his honor. Other officers installed were: Thelma Fink, as sociate matron; Ray Grains, as sociation patron; Gladys Chubb, secretary; Lillian Webb, treasurer; Georgian Clark, conductress: Eve lyn Biehn. associate conductress: at this time, Pamela Delap played two piano solos: Others installed were: Mina Horf, chaplain: llene Ongman. marshal: Lois Murphy, organist: Ellen Wade. Worthy Matron, Lois Gueck was presented the Installing baton which Waller Brown had made especially for hrr installation. It was while with while streamers tipped with tiny red rose buds. I An addendum on the months of the year was presented by the as sociate matron. Thelma Fink, as sisted by the 1954 officers, honor ing worthy matron, Lois Gueck. Her own special gavel was pre sented to her with her name en graved and the head of the gavel Is of the star point colors. The meeting was terminated by the members and guests singing "God be With You"' and repealing the Mizpeh benediction. The 1954 officers retired forming a court in the West through which the Bible was retired by the chaplain and the worthy matron and worthy patron were escorted by the mar shal. Refreshments were served In the dining room. The tables were beau tifully decorated with a continua tion to this year's colors, red and white. Each table was covered In white with red streamers centered with a large floral centerpiece of red carnations and white chrvMtu themums. Lighting was from red candles in star holders. The buffet table was beautiful with two five tiered copper candlestick adders and the while cakes wih each piece centered with a tiny red rose. Coffee and punch were serv ed by Rainbow Girls, Doris, Kdlth, and Gloria Wallin: Sylvia Wilburs, Donna Beckwlth, Geraldlne Steiner, Shirley Barleen and Ja:!:'.? Peuih. Before installation, the five elec tive officers were presented J small Bibles and corsages to noble grands-elect. Staged in the Winema Hotel Dec. 29, members of Tau, Xi Delta and Kappa Chapters of Beta Sigma Phi who were instrumental in organizing Nu Phi Mu, participated in the candlelight initiation and installation of officers. Present at the candlelight cere mony and banquet were members from Tau. Xi Delta and Kappa chapters of Beta Sigma Phi, whose Joint efforts organized the new sor ority.
