In the blouse and sportswear market there are little collections of dressy separates that are strict ly spring. They are to be worn at the cocktail hour, beginning on any spring-like afternoon and can con tinue into after-dark hours. These are definitely a continua tion of holiday and resort sepa rates, based on the same idea of a decorated skirt and a flattering bodice which can be separated and worn In different combinations. Fabrics Include navy taffetas. spring floral printed silks and spring colors in linen. They have nattering full skirts which are easy to wear. During the winter, black has been the big seller In New York, one store reporting that 95 per cent of dressy separates sold for the holidays have been black velvet, black laces and taffetas. Black mat jersey or wool jersey tops are still popular in the separates. Printed burlap skirts (black prints on natural colored burlap) and felt game skirts with checker and lotto boards appliaued and checkers tucked in the pocket are clever looking In red and black felts. . Empire Influence is felt in some of the blouse lines, The solid acceptance of cottons during seasons other than the warm ones, gives this fabric a new place in the wardrobe. You'll see nubby cotton and silk tweed mix tures in navy with white, light blue or tan with white in the year-round suit; printed petltpoint woven cot ton in gray background with pink or yellow print; tweed-like cotton with a dobby weave for suits; dark town cottons with wide Puritan col lars of wmte cotton or linen; cotton broadcloth and pepper and salt cot ton tweed weaves. Dropped shoulders, short loose sleeves and stand-away collars dis tinguish some lines. Two piece printed dresses are still popular. But, above all, select the style that Is becoming to you.
