All silver flatware, china and
napkins-should be In a straight
line, one inch from the edge of
the table, and you should use -only
the silver required by the food ac
tually being served. Do not use
more than six pieces of silver at
a time, except, in the instance
where the cocktail fork is used.
If the menu calls for more silver,
then put the dessert silver on the
table at the time that course is
served. .
The silver is placed in the order
in which it is used with the forks
off the left, knives, spoons and cock
tail -forks on the right. Be sure
he cutting edge of the knife is
turned in toward the plate.
Except in the case of a formal
dinner, when the nankin la nlaced
on the service place, the napkin
goes to the left of the fork. It
may be folded into souare, oblong
or triangle shape, but more elab
orate and tricky folds are not in
especially good taste.
The water glass should be placed
above the knife and if other glass
es are used, they go to the right
of the water glass. Be sure that
salt and peppers are available so

Uncooked Bony Jam Recipe

1. Partially thaw the frozen berries and put ihem in a 2 or 4 quart
kettle. Using a potato masher, ctush berries thoroughly to ob
tain enough liquid to dissolve the pectin. Place kettle over
low lire and warm to 100F. or temperature you'd use for baby's
milk). No hotter plcaac! Remove from fire.
2. Sift t package OVi-oi.) M.CP. Jam and Jelly Pectin into thawed
berries, stirring vigoroualv. Set aside for at least 20 minutes,
' stirring occasionally to aaaure that pectin It fnlly dissolved.
3. Stir in 1 cup light corn syrup, and stir well.
4. Now, stir in 6 level cups beet or one sugar (previously and
accurately, measured). Mix well.
5. With Red Raspberries the jam is ready to eat when sugar is dis
solved. With Strawberries, add l4 cup lemon juice after sugar is
dissolved; mix well. Make 5 full pintt or 13 ( H lb.) glawea.
NOTE i If jam is to be kept for a time, put in pint jars or paper
canons, well covered (no paraffin needed), and chill for 24 hours in
deep freeze, or freezing or ice cube compartment of refrigerator. Then,
store as you would milk, and use as desired. Never store these jama
am pantry shelf. They will not keep without refrigeration.

IT TAKES ONLY A FEW MINUTES so make
8 glasses with this easy M.CP. recipe: Measure
level cups sugar into dry dish (to be added
later). Put a 6-ot. can frozen orange juice, IVi .
cups water, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, and one

measured sugar, bring back to a full rolling boll, and BOIL EX
