Dale Abbs, 21, was charged on two counts of second degree, arson and was held In Jail at Ephrata in lieu of 12,000 bond. Prosecutor Robert S. Campbell Jr. said Abbs signed a statement that "I set the fires cn my folks farm because my folks were very mean to my wife" when she lived with them while Dale was in the Navy last year. , The prosecutor said the state ment related that Dale set a fire Sept. 28 that destroyed 20 tons of hay at his father's farm home Just , outside Moses Lake, and that he set two blazes Sept. 30 that caused minor damage to a granary and to a bedroom at the parents' home. Dale Abbs and his wife live in a aeparate house next door to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allle A. Abbs. Campbell said Dale Abbs' state ment explained that his wife had no knowledge of his setting the fires. Campbell and Sheriff C. E. An derson said they .believed Dale Abbs' assertion that he knew noth ing of the fires Sept. 26 and 27 that destroyed two lumber yards and a produce company ware house.
