Church Holds Ice Cream Festival Something new In the wav of festivals will be held in the "Fel lowship Hal lof the Congressional cnurcn2l60 Garden Avenue, Wed nesday, Aug. 12, from 7 to 10 p.m. It is an Ice Cream Festival "guaranteed to please the fam ily '! The Festival is being sponsored by the Priscllla C.lub. Proceeds will go Into tile treasury, pa ft of which will be voted Into the Build' Jng Fund to defray expenses of the new Fellowship Hall. Construction of the new building was begun last September. Nazarenes Plan Final Program The Church of the Nazarene Va cation Bible School will officially close for the year with the Bible School Achievement Prosram, to be presented this Sunday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., , .'P-...J...-.1,-V..,. The program will climax the two weeks of praying and studying to gether for the some 136 students enrolled. On the program are three skits to be presented ir) various class es, stories - of early missionaries including David Livingstone, Mary Slesser and many more; choruses, including one deaf an dumb chorus; a candle-lighting cere mony in memory of certain mis sionaries: recitation.. A plaque of the Good Shepherd will be awarded to Mona del Cheinowith who brought in the most people to Bible School ai.d Carol Murray who was second in the contest. On display will be the handwork done by the children in scnool and the Mission Box to which everyone who wanted contributed a small article.. Bible School has been under the direction of Miss Louella Ford, Ta coma, Wash. Miss Ford has conducted her fourth Bible School this summer. After it closes, she will super vise similar endeavors in Newport and Tacoma. So far this summer she has taught 1000 children, 1364 oi wnom were in maiutuu funs. Western Church Province Set Up NEW ORLEANS i The crea tion of a Western province, com prising eight Far Western states, was announced Thursday by the old Catholic missionary order of the oblates of Mary Immaculate. Temporary headquarters for the new province will be at San Fer nando. Calif. It comprises Washing ton, Oregon, Montana, Utah. Ari zona, Idaho, Nevada and a part of California. Official establishment of the new province and installation of its provincial general will be held Sept. 8, a day designated by the Catholic Church as the nativity of the blessed Virgin Mary. Tie very Rev. Charles Burns, O. M. I., pastor of the historically famous St. Louis cathedral here for the past eight years, has been chosen as the provincial oeneral for the newly-created province. Instead of a sermon the pastor will read from the Book of Acts. The congregation will be free at any point to interrupt tne reading with questions.' Brief comment pertaining to the scripture being read will be given by the min ister. It is suggested that each one read the first few chapters of the Acts so that they may have some questions in mind. Baptists to Hear Guest Speaker The churches of the Klamath Baptist Association will hear Mr T. L. Ferguson, prominent busi ness man of Amarillo, Texas, Tues day night. August 11, at the First Baptist Church. The meeting will begin at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Ferguson, together with Dr. J. Howard Williams, former Executive-Secretary of the Bjutist Gen eral Convention of Texas, is speak ing to Baptist groups of the North west during the week of August 9 14. Dr. Williams is visiting the groups of churches in Washington, and Mr. Ferguson those in 'Ore gon. : Mr. Ferguson will be accompan ied by the Rev. Roland P. Hood. mission superintendent for the Bap tist General Convention of Oregon. Washington. Churches in Dorris and Tulelake as well as Klamath Falls vyll be represented. . ! The informal group chose as its first work project the gathering, mending, and sending of clothes to needy Navajo Indians. Mrs. William Rentz, wife of the resident pastor, announces that any women in the area are wel come to come to the Wednesday afternoon work sessions at the din ing hall. Those who do not care to join are urged to donate cloth ing for the cause. . The women's group" will give aid locally also, chiefly by service to families in need. The union will meet the first and Chiloquin Church Gets New Bus CHILOQUIN 'i The Bible Stan dard Church last week purchased a small bus. Rev. David Sutton has scheduled a 30 mile route for it on Sundays going to Modoc Point, past Agency Lake and back to Chiloquin. Plans are to paint the bus black and wnite. Last spring the church purchased several lots adjoining the church building. Half the area nas ocen seeded to lawn, which will be used next year as a baseball diamond. During August construction will beein on a children's church addi tion, IS by 20 feet, at the rear of the regular building. The Rev. and Mrs. Sutton and daughters leave Aug. 10 for a three weeks camping trip on the Oregon coast. Rev. r . E. crook o: jsugene, former Oregon district superinten dent, will conduct the Sunday ser vices August 16 and 23. The Wednesday services will be iri the charge of Paul Johnson the first week. Reno Barnes the sec ond, and Jesse Manguni the third. Mungum will act as chmnnan for all services held during Sutton's absence.- . The- young people will conduct all three Friday night services. Refreshments were served at the close of the business session, with Mrs, Murray in charge. Outdoor Chapel Begun In Park Work has begun on the pro posed Outdoor Chapel to be de veloped in Moore Park by the Kiamatn Youtn renowsnip group. A wood platform about five feet square and a llagstone path mark the path of the site granted the youth group by the City Park Board last May. Future plans include erection of a wood cross and Installation ol logs for seating purposes. Initial plans for the ' chapel were made at a mee'lng at the Congregational Church May 3.
