The report, prepared by John S. Cotton, a consulting engineer and lormer cniei engineer tor the red' erol Power Commission, compares the feasibility and desirability of tne Bureau s Hells canyon Dam proposal with the plans of the Ida- no power co. Sen. Magnuson (D-Wash. who asked that the report be released, said he had asked for a copy sev eral weeks ago, but while its ex istence was acknowledged it was not maae avauaoie to nun A Department of Interior spokesman said last Friday that tne report would be released, this week. He denied there had been iny suppression of the report but said It had been re-drafted twice and had been completed only dur ing the previous week. The wenatcnee (Wash.) Dally World said last week the report endorses the Reclamation Bureau proposal while finding the Idaho company's proposal of a threc-nnd-five-dam system to be "not eco nomically leasmie." Magnuson said the report was prepared in accordance1 with an agreement entered into by the In terior Department. He noted that the Daily World reported Cotton estimates the cost of firm power possible through the Bureau of Reclamation plan at $19.09 a kilo watt year "as against $41.07 per kilowatt year for the Idaho Power Co, three-plant scheme." Magnuson asked that If the de partment has any differing esti mates they also should be tiade available. The senator's request was at least the third to be made to the department tor release of the re port. Similar requests were made Friday by Reps. Don Magnuson (D-Wash) and Mrs. Oracle Plost (D-Ida). Commission Denies Hearing Delay WASHINGTON 11 The Fed- eral Power Commission announced Monday It had rejected a request that hearings on applications of tlie Idaho Power Co., to- three dams on the Snake River be post poned three months. Commission Chairman Jerome 0. Kuykendall said the hen rings will open as schedule July 7.
