Polio Cases
Lead 1952's
WASHINGTON I The Public
Health Service reported Thursday
that infantile paralysis cases this
year are running about 30 per cent
ahead 01 the corresponding period
in 1952, a record year with 57,'
636 cases.
Last week 47 states . listed 248
new cases, more than double the
119 in the similar week of 1953.
This ran the 1953 total to 3.817
cases, with no report last week
from Wisconsin, compared with
i In the similar 1953 period.
And, for tha "disease year,"
which began about April 1, this
year's total has reached 1,235
cases compared with 846 a year
ago.
