'Party Line Some 200 New State Laws Become Effective This Week OLYMPIA Ufl More than 200 new laws passed by the 1953 Leg lslsture go into effect next Thurs day. Patterson said here Friday night that Oregon Republicans hit a patronage "jackpot" when Douglas McKay was appointed Secretary of the Interior. "Oregon Is going to be well treated," in the matter of federal jobs as long as McKay holds that job, Patterson told some 300 per sons at a $S-a-plate Douglas County Republican dinner. Later Patterson slept in a room where a window had been shat tered before his arrival by a pellet from an air rifle. The room was tn the home of Thomas Parkinson, a former state senator. A new museum to house relics of the Grant County sold rush 91 years ago was dedicated here Saturday by the county's historical society. The building houses a collection which until recently has been at the Charles Brown Service Station here. The society bought the relics for $20,000, which was raised through a subscription campaign. PACT RATIFIED Montevideo, Uruguay w The Uruguayan Chamber of Dep uties ratified a military assistance Pact with the United States early Saturday after a bitter debate that occupied 18 sessions of the cham ber. The vote was 54 to 29. Airport Building Being Expanded An addition is being built on the administration bulldine at Municipal Airport to house West Coast Airlines ticket, operations and administrative offices. The City Administration con tracted for the construction and, according to Mayor Paul Landry, Is to be reimbursed in full by the airlines firm. The contract was awarded to A. G. Silva for $4,076. That was the lowest of live bids submitted to the City Council. West Coast, which is to give Klamath Falls a new air service to Portland and Seattle, plans to begin operations here about July 1. Three inbound and three out bound flights daily are to give service between here ana such way points as Medford, Roseburg, North Bend, coos Bay, Eugene, Al bany and Corvallis.
