Top bowler in the league for the season was Bob Victorln of Crater Lake Machinery with a 175 aver age. Morrison finished with a 170, 'Frank Hall of Beeber Food Sales 169. 1 Rickys 908 was the top team game for the season, followed bv Beeber with 889 and Safeway with 882. Underwood rolled the best series 2524. Crater Lake notched ft 2465, Coca Cola a 2462. Clarence Cansberg of Rickys rolled a 250 line and 603 scries '(the only 600 score of the season) but an individual or team can cut Into the prize money in just one department so Oansberg settled on his 250 line score. Joe Wachtcr's 243 was next best, Morrison's 235 third high. Wachtcr Is a Coca Cola bowler. Cansbcrg's stepping aside gave Gordon Lowe of Hercules the top scries score lor the season's run, a 590. Both games are on the road. 'The Cokes face Albany Satur day, 7:45 p.m., in one nine-inning game. Cottage Grove is the Sunday af ternoon foe in two seven-inning games at Creswell High Sc!iool starting at 1 p.m. Cottage Grove is filling in for Eugene when the latter team had to back out because of a league commitment. Kemnitzer said southpaw Gary Williams will get the Albany pitch ing assignment. Right-handers Modesto Jiminez and David D'Olivo are Sunday nominees, although D'Olivo's ap pointment is doubtful because of an Infection on his pitching hand. If he's okay, he'll go. Otherwise Kemnitzer Just "didn't know" yesterday. Bob Kelley and Larry Yarnell will trade off catching chores, with Keiley tentatively down for Satur day night's job. The expectation was that Tannas would get nowhere. And there wasn't a team that you could put your finger on as a real favorite. One team is in by virtue of the toss of a coin while most others had close calls in at least one of their games. Stanford and Southern Califor nia were the two West Coast teams in the running, but they couldn't decide on a playoff date -because final examinations in the two schools conflicted. So they tossed a coin and Stanford won, so the Indians will represent district 8. Southern California won an NCAA round-robin playoff at Los Angeles, but Stanford was the win ner of the Pacific Coast Confer ence.
