The Club under the guidance of Mrs. Velma Newcombe has big ideas In respect to young people's ac thrltie and given the proper sup ra rt this community can nave a real lively and wholesome young people's section in the Grange work. Mr. and Mrs. oonaia biuh riven a whooner of a wed ding shower at the Grange Hall last Friday evening. Tnese evening showers to which whole families are Invited, turn out to be real social events where everyone in the community has a chance to contribute to the happiness ot the newly married youngsters who have chosen this particular place, mnnr friends. In which to live. The couple received many useful presents and a musical program of songs befitting the occasion completed the evening, along with the serving ot Ice cream, cake and coffee. Merle replaces Mearle: Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis have taken over the ranch Job on the old Fred Fisher place now operated and owned by Raymond Fisher. The iob was recently vacated by Mearle Dotson who hss moved over to his mother's ranch on the Westside. Mr. and Mrs. Bunts Miller were guests st the 8 tale Line Motel Wednesday aad Thursday. While here they visited with the Ross Harris family and other old mends at Willow Ranch. Mr. Miller was a former resident of that mill town. having moved away about five years ago. He is now living In Pasco. Wash., and Is a brakeman i the Oreat Northern railroad. Safety hats that work: Lester Seribner, a Copco employe work ing with other linemen who have been topping trees here, begin ning last Thursday, can testify that the new safety hats recently issued to the linemen, are worth their weight In gold. Last Friday while toocuur trees on the Truman Lawson nlace. a recalcitrant limb fell contrary- wise across two loaded live wires carrying 11,000 volts. One end of the limb kicked back and touched tne aaiety hat scrlbner was wear ing, causing a halo ot tire to flash around it's rim. A straggler branch of the limb scraped his ribs which sent a portion of the bolt directly through him. making nun limp. He hung by his safety belt which was around tne tree trunk and for a time appeared to be lifeless. weak and sick Scrlbner was rushed to Lakeview for medical treatment. It was a very narrow escape and had it not been for the safety hat, Scrlbner would not have been talking to me this morning blessed Is that little old plastic safety helmet. He should frame it and paint it gold to reflect It's supreme personal value. That was the reason we were without lights for a time last Friday at around 11 ajn. The last hot-dinner grange meet ing, until next fall anyway, was held last Saturday evening. There were about 25 members present (or the supper and several came In later for the meeting which took up soon after eight o'clock. This meeting will bring up ana aiscuss prooiems confronting the county officials in preparation to the building of a new courthouse in Laxeview. Fred Fisher and my self were designated by grange master, Earle Sanford to be pres ent at this meeting. Other discussion centered around whether or not our grange was in fnvor ot a Joint Klamath-Lake County Pomona Orange p lento to bo held sometime this summer. The Orange voted in favor of such a picnic Last year the Lake Coun ty Pomona Orange had the choos ing ot the site which was at Booth Park. This year Klamath County will have the prlvilige of selecting the grounds tor the festive event, Mr. Al Morgan and wife. Mar Jorie. were given the obligation into tne grange as new members at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Wynn of Medford accompanied by - Mrs. Mayme Vincent and Mrs. Gray, were weekend - guests at the Charlie Vincent home. They - at tended the Bible discussions and Easier services held at the Orange Hall Sunday, Mrs. Mayme Vincent is an aunt ol Mr, Vincent and Mrs. Wynn Is a cousin. One by one different employes are being called back to work at the willow Ranch mill. Dibble Bray who has been working as a raecnanio aown at surney, was called back to work Saturday eve ning. According to the latest report the mill will start up in full swing, Monday, April 13.
