Owls Seek to Bust OCE Grid Monopoly By RED HURD The Oregon Tech Owls don't like monopolies particularly lootball type monopolies. And they intend to remedy Sat urday one monoply that is going on up Monmouth way. The Oregon College Wolves of Monmouth have captured the Ore gon Collegiate Conference title since the birth of the grid loop in 1950. And, to make matters even more aggravating, the Owls have fin ished in the runner-up spot. Tuai's not aii. In addition to as-0 (1950) and 19-6 (1951) wins for the Wolves in league play over the Owls, the Monmouth eleven won 33-0 In 1949 and 19-8 In 1948 BVAg CLASSIC LEAGUE W L TtL 4 0 1.000 4 0 1.0O0 3 1 .750 3 1 .7SO 3 J .750 ... 1 3 J50 1 3 JJO 1 3 .250 Johnion lnsuranc Baxtar-HaU Lumber Davn Aaaoctated Klamath Printing eth St. Oxyien - Oregon Woolen , Landry Inauranc Loule'i Food .... ' The Wolves are admittedly be low par this season but have shown improvement as the campaign rolls along. Add to this that Oregon College always points for Oregon Tech, and you have the makings of a ding-dong battle that could surprise some of the grid-wise. COMPARISON'S Two comparisons give the Owls a wide edge. Southern Oregon whlDped Oregon College S6-13. The Owls waxed the same team, '89-0. Oregon College, picking up mo mentum as the season progresses, clobbered Portland State 40-7. Ore gon Tech beat the Vikings, 54-0. With two exceptions. Oregon Tech is in full health for the game. Halfbacks George Clark and Harry j Thompson are limping on injurea legs. READY But brothers Jim and Don Mc intosh may be ready to go after recent injuries have benched them. The loss of Jim Mcintosh for full back duty after Larry Jeter's Fri day Injury robbed the Owls of a fullback and hurt their chances against Boise J C . Both Mcintosh and Jeter will probably be okay for heavy duty against the Wolves. The defensive end talent of Don Mcintosh has been missed in re cent games. . exx; clash because conference aUow only 30 players on a .ravelins: Mumd. r rrCnCIl WiiaiTipiOn ' . a pa a .
