DELTA KAPPA GAMMA MEETS October meeting ol Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary society for teachers, was held at the home of Mrs. Geraldine Owsley, 224 North Second Street, Saturday, October 4. Assisting Mrs. Owsley as host esses were, Irma Wauchope. Ruth Obenchain and Florence Ollmann lor the 1 o'clock dessert. Secretary Helen Hoffman gave a report of the sorority's activities, and called the roll of members present. Dorothy Bailee reported on the finances of the group. An announcement was made urg ing members to attend the "Free dom Forum" to be held at Fre mont school, October 6, at t tn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lois Rumer and Dea Jean Wright, co-chairmen of the rum mage sale, suggested that all ar ticles to be sold be brought in as soon as possible, to be pressed etc., and that the sale will be held at lit South Eleventh Street, Satur day, October 11. Beulah Elliott, program chair man introduced the guest speak er, Helen McDonald, who spoke to the Delta Kappa Gamma members on the Philippines. Miss McDonald, who Is In charge of religious edu cation at the local Presbyterian church, was born and lived 18 years in the Islands. The speaker told of the long fight lor independence of the Filipinos, and of their great need of schools, teachers, libraries, hospital and and medical facilities. The Japa nese Invasion of the islands in 1941 set the country back hundreds of years, as schools were closed roads destroyed and the 2000 islands comprising the Philippine group suffered in many ways from the invaders. Miss McDonald and her family were among some 40 missionaries interned at Manila, by the Japa nese, for two years. They endured many - privations, due to food shortages and their dally rations were cut from 800 calories to 400 toward the end of their Imprison ment. In closing, the speaker stressed the Importance of the Philippines as the last stionghold of democracy In the Orient, and unfortunately, help has been diverted from them to Korea. I PEACE MEMORIAL CHURCH was the scene of an 8 p.m. September Wedding, when the Reverend Dwayne L. Proett officiated at the double-ring service for Marilee Crawford and Dale Neal Scheer. They said their vows before an altar banked with large arrangements of white gladioli, pompon chrysanthemums with greenery. Tall lighted tapers in floor candelabra were placed at either side. Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Crawford, well known Basin ranchers, '4690 Boardman Avenue; and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Scheer, Jennings Lodge, Oregon. In the absence of president Faye Welmer and vice president Billie Colwell the party was under the direction of Janet Femlund and program chairman Nancy Schmow The men present made hats and the ladies modeled them. Supper partners were chosen by matching up slips of paper; bread went with butter, su gar with cream, and so forth. The teachers for this yesr were Introduced with Charles Steber the new principal. Other nigh school ORIONS Orlons regular business meeting, September 9. was in the Methodist Church parlors. Devotions were led by Mrs. Charles Carlson. Mrs. Charles McFarlan, chairman, con ducted the business meeting. Ella Redkey, guest sneaker, gave a verv interesting talk on trips the Girl Scouts had taken this sum mer. She also showed slide pictures taken on the various trips. A plant exchange for members and guests followed the meeting. OKEGON MARILEE CRAWFORD BRIDE OF DALE'NEAL SCHEER IN PEACE MEMORIAL CHURCH Popular bride-elect Marilee Crawford was honored with a series of pre-nuptial parties, before her marriage in Peace Memorial Church to Dale Neal Scheer, which was an event on the autumn social calendar. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Craw ford, well-known Basin ranchers, 4690 Boardman Avenue; and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Scheer, Jennings Lodge, Oregon. Vows were said in a double-ring ceremony before a large group of invited friends and relatives. The Reverend Dwayne L. Proett was officiating minister at the 8 p.m. service, Sep tember 13. Shades of green, gold, yellow. rust and white were used In the color scheme. The bride was es corted by her father to an altar decorated with large arrangements of white gladioli and pompon chry santhemums. She was lovely In a gown of white slipper satin, with long sleeves pointed at the wrists, fitted bodice with a high double peter pan collar; and a full skirt ending In a short train. A tiara of seed pearls held the fingertip veil of Illusion net, edged with Chantllly lace. She carried a bou quet of talisman roses surrounded with stephanotis and shattered yel low carnations. Her bridal veil was borrowed; she wore the tdltional blue garter; and her necklace was an heirloom lavalier, which had be longed to her grandmother Craw ford. Lois Ann Oalther. college room mate at Lewis and Clark was maid of honor. Her ankle length frock was of rust taffeta, with corsage and headpiece of chrysanthemums in fall colors. The low square neck line of her dress with the full gathered skirt and short sleeves repeated In the bridesmaids' at tire. They were: Ruth Patterson, a schoolmate through grade and high fAff school. In burnt gold taffeta; Shir ley Jean Crawford, sister of the bride, wore dark green; and Hon dell Crawford, also sister of the bride, wore light green. All of the attendants wore matching head pieces. Mrs. 8am Mushen, organist, ac companied Carl Haxel, who aang, "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord's Prayer." Candlellghtera were Nell Olson and Ralph Crawford, cousin and brother of the bride. Bridegroom's attendants were Jay McMurren, Jennings Lodge, best man: Bruce Crawford, broth er of bride: Keith Bteln. West Linn; and Don C. Smith. Oswego; ush frlends of the bridegroom. Mrs. Crawford chose a dark blue dress with matching accessories, accented with coral, and her cor sage was of coral gladioli. Mrs. Scheer wore an aqua dress with matching ahoea, and her cos tume was accented with while and her corsage was of white gladioli. The main subject for discission was on the growing of perennial., with La venie Kendall giving the general Instrurtlons on Uie feeding and care of perennials. Talks on specific perennials which will do well In this area were given bv Dolly Cox. Pearl Harsey and Lillian Kamarad.
