Di Miller Tock crusher on the Round Lake road. Some heavy timbers were dam aged and several conveyor belts burned. ' Fire equipment of the Klamath Forest Protective Association, the county fire department. Stewart Lenox fire department and Oregon Tech assisted in quelling the blaze, and a city pumper went to the Stewart-Lenox station to stand by. Klamath Reclamation Man Goes To Jordan On Point 4 A warm international political situation isn't keeping Dave Bun- ger, Klamath Bureau of Recla mation soil scientist, from partici pating in the government's Point Four program in one of the hot beds of the Near East the little kingdom of Jordan. Bunger and his family plan to drive back to the East Coast where he is to undergo a week of orienta- DAVE BUNGER tion before they fly across the At lantic Oct. 12. His car and furniture is to fol low by ship. Bunger has been here for the past six years, and when he's through with his year's "tour of duty" in the Near East, he would like to come back here. His job there is part of an eight-man team investigating pro ject possiblities in the once rich and fertile Jordan country which today is a land of poor-producing barren hills. The country which has been under British Protectorate since 1914, today Is independent, and its capital city of Amman has a population of about 70,000 per sons. Normal population for the country is about 300,000, but there are twice that many Arab refu gees from neighboring Israel. A 600,000 acre project Bunger and his teammates are to work on should provide subsistence for ft good art of those refugees. - The climate there is somewhat comparable to the Central Valley of California, Bunger says.
