Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Denton vis ited over the weekend from Port land at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Yegge of Denton Park. Den ton operates a lumber yard in Guam, and was recently called home to Portland by the illness of his wife. . Among local people who enjoyed the Elk's picnic held Sunday, Aug. 3, at the eity Park at Malin, ware Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McAuliffe. Mr. and Mrs. Loren L. Miller Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Boeder and Mrs. Jerry Sisemore. Houseguests from weonesoay until Friday at the home of Mrs. Mvrtle Denton and son Delbert, were Mr. and Mrs. Lew O'Neil and their sons, Michael and Oary Sparks. Nev. Mrs. O'Neil is a niece by marriage of Mrs. Clara Beail, who is Mrs. Denton's sister, and a summer visitor at the Den ton home, lrom Areata, uaiu. Spending all day Sunday at the Denton rancn nome were Mrs. Viola McDowell and daughter, Cheryl, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fan ger, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bellows and Mrs. Phil Lowd, all of Med lord. The women are nieces of Mrs. Denton and Mrs. Beall, Mrs. Lowd being the former Claudia Klum, widow of the late state po lice officer, Phil Lowd, of Med lord. Another houseguest at the home of Mrs. Denton and son is Mrs. Minnie Mallory, who on Wednesday Aug. 6, went to Klamath Falls for dental attention. During her few days' stay she will be the guest of a friend, Mrs. Florence iromoiee of Klamath Falls. Mr. nnd Mrs. Fred Zanz. San Jose, visited from Monday until Wednesday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Wright. On Friday, Mrs. Wright left by train from Klamath Falls for Oakland, where she will visit for two weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Martha Freauff, and will also visit other relatives and friends at Coronado and Fresno before returning home. After a ' six weeks' stay in bed as a result of a severe spinal in jury, Mrs. Fred O. Brown, Crystal, is able to be up and around again at her home at the Brown ranch. Gay Stewart, Sacramento, vis ited here last week at the home of her aunt and family, Mr., and Mrs. James Van Wormer and son Douglas, leaving on Friday, for Klamath Falls, where she will stay with her sister, Mrs. Charles Smith, before returning to her home in California. Mr. and Mrs. Ord Fritchett re turned here Sunday evening after attenaine the rodeo at PrinevUle. where they were guests during the stay at the home of old friends. Mr, and Mrs. Ray Kelly, at the Haycrcek ranch. Going to Prine ville Sunday, for the last day of the show were Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Zumbrun and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Fritchett and family. Mr. and Mrs. Loren L. Miller Jr., and their three little sons, enjoyed a few days at the beach and visltinir her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Patterson. Portland. returning home Monday. Auir. 1. During their absence, their infant daughter, Mary Anne, was left here in the care of her Daternal grandmother, Mrs. Loren L. The Old Swimmin' Hole at Den ton Park, has proved a most popu lar spot during the past month of warm, sunlit days, the ideal sum mer weather having been condu cive to various groups holding their annual all-day picnic outing among the pines at Denton Park. On Sun day. Aug. 3, employes of the Bal siger Motor Co. and also mem bers of the Bartenders' Union of Klamath Falls gathered there for picnics, while, Saturday. Aug. . was the occasion for a gathering of Bonneville Power Proiert m. ployes. Scheduled tor next Sunday. Aug. 17, is the Klamath Falls Fra ternal Order of Eagles picnic, and on Sunday. Aug. 24. Pacific Fnni and Produce Co. employes of Klam ath Falls, will hold their annual picnic at the park. An event of the weekend of Aug. 16-17. will be the third annual u together and nicnic of the wv River Pioneer and Old Timer or ganization, on Saturday evening. Aug. 16, local members will be hosts for a social meeting in the C. I. Clubhouse, when election of officers will be held. On Sunday, the all-dnv annual picnic will be held At. Jai-ksnn V Kimball park at the head of Wood River, with the oraanicattnn fur. mshing ice cream and coffee for the feast which will highlight the occasion. Mrs. William Zumbrun. Those olan- ning to come are asked to bring an item of food for the picnic, also personal table service and silver. The dinner given in the c. t Clubhouse, Saturday evening, Aug. 8. by members of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the local Metnodist community Church. was a fine success. Co-chairmen were Mrs. Raymond S. Looslev and Mrs. Bert Gray, assisted by mem bers of the church group as well as C. L. club members and women of the communitv in eeneral in addition to local business establish ments, all helping by donations and work to add a substantial sum. to tne church improvement fund here. Piece de resistance was baked ham or roast beef, served in the tradi tional, well-known Fort Klamath style with ail the delectable trim mings. Patrons served during the evening. Included not only local people but several from nearby points as well as numerous tourists who had stopped off in Fort Klam ath to spend the night before re suming their trips the next day. These latter were especially pleased with the viand3, pronounc ing the dinner most delicious and the best they had enjoyed while travelling. This is a well-deserved tribute to the culinary ability of Fort Klamath women, as we have here some of the finest cooks to be found anywhere. FINE PHOTOGRAPHY It. Many families who want a little excitement, such as water skiing and speedboat ridmg. along with a restful atmosphere have been va cationing at Lake O' Woods. Staying there this past week were the Beimels' daugh ter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Charles McLaughlin of San Fran cisco. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ben net and daughter Betty spent the past weekend there and will go again today. Mrs. Martin Ramsby. society ed itor for the Herald and News, and her daughter Sue are spending tneir vacation at the Matthew Fin nigan cabin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Linman really had their hands full when thev took their son Joe and three of his friends to their cabin for a three day outing. August 8th through the 10th. The boys who young Joe had as his guests were Donald Brail ler. Peter Barnhisel. and Harrv Childers. A Wonderful month spent at the Dr. Ralph Stearns' cabin will come to an end. Sunday. August 17. for the newlvweds, Mr. and Mrs. "Perky" Stearns, for Perkv has orders to report to McCord Airbase, Tacoma. Monday. Dr. and Mrs. Stearns spent the weekend with the young couple at the cabin. but their daughter Frances didn't accompany them. . rrances could not go to the lake as she had already ac cepted an Invitation to visit Nancy Hoggland, former resident of Klam ath Falls, at her home in Portland. Frances will be leaving here soon for Northwestern University. Chi cago, where she will enter as a freshman. Helen Dettweiler will be at Reames Golf Club. Thursday, Aug ust 21, for a golf clinic and an exhi bition match. Around 6:30 Thurs day evening a buffet dinner will be served to the club's members. Mrs. W. F. Relmer. DuBols. Penn, came here recently by plane to visit ner daughter and son-in- law. Mr. and Mrs. T. P.- Young, 230 Donald Street.
