The two were playing together, and Fraser still held the two stroke advantage he had all day when they went to the 18th. But on that par five hole Fraser hit a fair way ahot Into a tree, and the ball sailed out of bounds for a two stroke penalty. Jacobs did not let the opportunity escape. He whistled a 200 yard iron shot to the green, then got down in two putts from 30 leet away lor a birdie that closed the gap. Fraser had to play carefully to get a bogie six on the hole, ending with a 72. Jacobs had 70. Batnskl accounted for one of Portland's runs with a homer and singled in the other. Bob Boyd's triple and Walt Judnlch'a double provided the Suds with their only run of the conteat. In other loop games Friday night, the Oakland Oaks walloped Los Angeles' sagging Angels. 11-1. San Francisco tripped Hollywood, D-s. and San Diego drubbed Bac ramento, 9-1.
