Motors and Steels were ahead while rails and selected oils re treated. The entire list showed a declining tendency at the close. Volume was an estimated 1,200, 000 shares. Chrysler, stilt favored because of the good earnings report of last week, stood well ahead in the motor section with General Motors and Studebaker giving splendid support. Cattle were steady to 25 cents higher and sheep steady to 50 cents up. Most butcher weight hogs sold from 821.75 to 823.50 but a few loads and lots succeeded to the market top of $23.75. Sows were worth $17.50 to $21.50 for the most part, a few topping at $21.75. Clearance was good on the 9 000 hogs estimated to be on sale. The number compared with 13,250 sold a week ago. Choice and prime grades of steers were in best demand. Most good to prime kinds and yearlings sold from $28.00 to $34.50, a few loads topping out at $3500 to $35.50. Good to prime heifers were $28.00 to $34.25, on load get ting up to $35.00. uows topped at $21.50, bulls at ' $25.00, and vealers at $33.00. High-good to prime native lambs I ranged irom $28.00 to $31.00 and most old-crop lambs and yearlings from $23.00 to $24.50. A few of the latter took $25.00. Eewes con tinued at $9.50 and below. Other receipts included an esti mated 16,000 cattle, 500 calves, and 2,000 sheep. Several adults are going along Crater Murder ill Mystery Three full weeks of Investigation has failed to produce so much as a suspect In the Crater Lake mur ders. On July 19. two General Mo tors executives were robbed and snot to deatn in the national park Tlie victims were C. P. Culhane, Detroit, Mich., and A. M. Jones. Concord. Calif. Because the crime occurred on leueral land, the probe has been Dandled by the FBI. Culhane and Jones left here ear. ly on the afternoon of July 19 to go to a fishing cabin on Union Creek. Their route was through the Southwest corner of Crater Lake Park. The two men entered the park at the south gate a little af ter 1 p.m. About an hour later. their car was noticed abandoned on the roadside about three miles msiae tne park. A search was launcned lor the two men and their bodies were found two davs later. They had been gagged arid killed by single shots fired into their heads. The bodies were about one. fourth of a mile back in the dense woods along the park entrance highway. A special squad of FBI agents Immediately came here to probe the crime. Literally hundreds of persons have been checked but all nave apparently been eliminated as possible suspects. One man. who had boasted of being guilty of the crime was ques tioned by the FBI but was sub sequently written off as a crack pot. The man was William K. Rus sell. He was arrested in Duschesne, Utah, confessed to kidnap robber ies of motorists, and has since been sentenced to five years in prison for one of those crimes. The FBI said so far as the Crater Lake murders were concerned. Russell appeared to have been In Sacra mento when they were committed. Man Arraigned On Check Charge Clyde E. Tillotson. 46-year-old electrician, was arraigned this morning in District Court on a charge of obtaining money by false pretenses passing a 10 bad check at the Cascade Hotel May 26. He was brought here over the weekend from Medford and lodged in the County Jail. The charge was signed by C. V. Cooley. clerk at the hotel. June 4. Tillotson gave his residence as Jacksonville. Ore.
