Modoc Scout Hike Shrinks The week-long hike to Crater Lake slated by Explorer Scouts of the Modoc Ares has been cut in half they're only going- In from one direction. Originally the trip was planned to start from Lake of the Woods with one group, and from Crescent Lake by another. However, the lack of enough adults to go slong neces sitated knocking off the northern hike-in. The southern group still plsns to leave Saturday, Aug. 16, and climb Ml. Pitt and Pelican Butte en route to the national park, as well ss work out field problems. They plan to take the Skyline Trail. Klamath Falls, has reported to Troop Train ing Unit, Coronado, for the 1952 Marine Corps Reserve training pro gram, the first full-scale Marine Reserve summer training program since the outbreak of hostilities in Korea in 1950. This two-week training program Is designed to add to the military proficiency of Reserve Marine Of ficers and to keep them abreast of the latest developments In weapons snd strategy. Cahills Moved To Oakland Mrs. James Cahlll and her three-year-old daughter Candace, have been moved from Trinity Hospi tal in Areata, Calif., to tht Oak Knoll hospital In Oakland. Mrs. Cshiil is the wmow oi James Cahlll who waa killed in a truck-car collision near Areata on July 11. Mrs. Cahlll, Candace and another daughter, Ann, were all In jured in the same mishap. The funeral is to be held at t a.m. from Ward's Chapel. Ross, a native of Miles City, Mont., wss one of the oldest bar bers in Klamath County. For a number of years he hsd worked at the Palace Barber Shop. He dropped dead, apparently of a heart attack, on 7th street late Tuesday night.
