LIVESTOCK CHICAGO I Hops regained half their Tuesday price losses Wednesday as the country cut re ceipts to less than half those of the previous session. A quarantine resulting from ar rival at the stockyards of hogs suspected of having vesicular ex anthema still was in effect. This kept shipping interests off the market again. Cattle again were unevenly 25 cents higher to 50 lower, though mostly steady. Sheep were steady throughout the list. Despite the lack of business from outside order buvers, hogs showed rises of 25 to 50 cents as local slaughterers bit into the smallest Wednesday run since March . The supply was well cleared before the close. Barrows and gilts topped at $23. 25, most choice kinds taking $21.00 to $23.25. Sows were mainly $17.25 to $21.00. Receipts of cattle were estimated to be a third larger than the trade had expected. The excess ran mainly to lower grades of . steers, vearlines. and heifers, which showed the market's only weakness. Most good to Drune steers and heifers brought $28.00 to $34.25 with some up to $34.50 and $35.00. cows were $22.00 and below. bulls from $24.50 downward, and vealers from $33.00.
