Here four sisters, granddaughters of Nicholas and Maria Bird Sprenger donned calico frocks of the 1852 era. A reunion was held at Shedd, Oregon, at the old homestead taken up when the family first cams to Oregon. Left to right, Mrs. W. V. Whitlach, Merrill Highway, Ethel Commons, Halsey, Mabel Ruiter, Eugene, and Analia Hoflich, Albany, wearing her grandmother Sprenger's lace bonnett. 1 00 Years Ago Recalled At Shedd Reunion ' 'a family reunion that dated back 100 years took Klamath County families to Shedd, Oregon, June 29. " The reunion was in memory of the arrival on that date in 1853, ol the CTandoarents of Mrs. W. V. Whltlatch of the Merrill highway, Nicholas and Maria Bird Sprenger, who made the long trek via wagon train from Iowa to Oregon City . and then to Albany. Both are . burled at corvams. '. Original plans called for the meet ing to be held on the exact, spot where they first touch Oregon soil but rain drove the ISO descendants to a high school gymnasium. 'There are 260 descendants the oldest at the time of the-reunion being 85-years-old the youngest four days. They live in Nevada Utah. California and Oregion. This was. ue ursi reunion. , . i. Several mementoes of those early days were on display and each one attendang were presented with a portion of the material from the 'original three-room log cabin the pioneers built and occupied. -'.The old homestead still Is in possession of two grandsons, cou sins, a. u. sprenger ana, i nomas B. Mrs. W, V. tThelma) Whit latch, Klamath Falls, Ethel Com mons, Halsey, Thomas R. Springer, Shedd, Isa belle Wilson, Albany. Two other granddaughters, Mrs. Xllen Parker, 85, Oakland, Calif., and. Mrs. Mack Dough too, Salem, were unable to attend. Others going from here were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whitlatch and son Danny and Mr. and Mrs. Roy whit latch, Dick and Jerry, Bonanza. It is quick and easy to make, economical to serve and oh so good to eat! . Another ice cream favorite, par ticularly beloved by teen-agers is a Fudge Sundae. If Mom keeps ice cream on hand in the refrigerator wmtm m better made with You or freezer, thegang can whip up their own Hot-Fudge Sauce, which makes it twice as much lun. A lew chopped nuts and a topnot of whippped cream make tnis ice cream favorite a real party des sert. KASPBERRY PARFAIT PIE 1 pkg Raspberry Gelatin 1 3-3 cups hot water 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice 1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream 1 cup Crushed Raspberries 1 9 inch pie shell Dissolve gelatin In hot water. Add lemon juice. Add the ice cream by spoonfuls stirring until melted. Chill until thickened but not set. Fold in drained crushed raspber ries. (Use iuice as Dart of liauid.) Pour into pie shell which may be pastry, crumo or water au are gocd with this pie. Chill until firm. Soread laver' of whipped cream over top or garnish with whipped cream ana iresn raspoemes.
