Conrad Shclland's parents were to arrive this Saturday for approxi mately a month's vacation. They have a new grandchild to visit this time. Two Sunday school classes, the boys and the girls of 4ih. Sih and lh grades of the Methodist church, plus a few other students, went to Klamath Falls in a group on Saturday afternoon to go skatine. Mrs. John Mannerlng, Walter Col lins. Mrs. Gerry Wolff and Mrs. Earl Hall went with the group. A large attendance was reported at the cafeteria picnic held on the lcwn of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Sunday afternoon, in spite of the threatening weather. Mrs. Barton Peden. a former Chiloquin resident who has lived In Seattle for a number of years, and another woman, a friend of Mrs. Peden's, were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zim merman. Other guests for Satur day evening dinner, were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Staiger. The travelers continued on Sunday, headed tor Santa Ana to visit a sister. It was the fastest mas ever has traveled on water. In 1930 Sayres and the Slo-Mo startled the speedboat world by boosting the world mark some 30 miles an hour to 160.3235 m.D.h. That same year he won the Gold Cup Race and the Harmsworth Trophy in the speedy Slo-Mo. Lake Washington's narrow east channel was choppy from a sharp i breeze as Sayres came out at 8 la.m. (PDT) for bis try at the record. With the wind at his back, he ran the first mile of the test in 185.567 miles an hour. On the re turn against the wind he was clocked in 171.428.
