CHESS TO WRESTLING NEW YORK l-Henry Witten berg, the eight-time National AAU wrestling champ and winner of the 1948 Olympic light heavyweight wrestling crown, began his carreer as a member of the chess team at CCNY. Cart wright said in an interim report that waterfowl production this year will probably be one of the tinest in recent years. "Overall picture promising. . . heavier breeding stock over most of the range, a good early hatch and prospect of heavy production," the report said. The report Is based on aerial and ground surveys in all three prairie provinces and checked against field observations by U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists and the Canadian Wildlife Service. Heavier production estimates are based on the Increase in pairs of ducks which will raise flocks this summer. Alberta records show an increase of 4.3 per cent In breeding pairs from 1951 ground survey figures. Saskatchewan's ground survey of 161 square miles showed 29.6 breeding pairs a square mile. In Eastern Saskatchewan dry this spring 11.1 pairs were counted, down from 13.7 last year. But Western Saskatchewan showed 25.1 breeding pairs a square mile compared with 13.3 last year an increase of 105.7 per cent. Manitoba's survey Is Incomplete, but the report said an excellent hatch is expected to bslance an estimated 34 per cent reduction in breeding population from last year.
