vised the brothers in their death
cells after communicating with

The brothers took the news
calmly. Utah refused comment, but
Turman told reporters:
"This gives us' another" chance,
but . we've ' been "expecting some
thing." It was the second time, the Wil
sons had been spared from the gal
lows only hours- before the sched
uled time of execution. Nov. 30.
1951, the Circuit Court granted a
stay, opening the way for Wilsons'
second unsuccessful appeal to the
U.S. Supreme Court.
Utah and Turman were arrested
April 1, 1950. 11 days after the

Wind River, 50 miles east of Van
couver.
They were convicted by a Su
perior Court Jury on June 28. The
convictions were upheld by the
Washington State Supreme Court j
which also refused a later request.
